Paladin D
Before you push that "reply" button, please read what I have to say (it isn't that long). I remember long ago when this whole war started, it seemed that almost every Protestant Christian (well, on TBN anyways) was supporting it. Mainly because "Iraq is Babylon" and stuff of the sort. Then there were those who supported it to elimate the WMD thread, and those to just get rid of that horrible dictator. But considering before the war, the Bush Administration stated that the main reason that they needed to engage, is because of WMDs. Now... it's been changed to "Saddam was an evil dictator, we had to get him out". Well if that reason were to be used BEFORE the war, than people wouldn't be screaming at President Bush as loud. So far, more evidence shows that there wasn't a large WMD threat at the time. And remember how the Pope urged the President to not engage in this war? Look at the consequences... hundreds of US soldiers have died, and many more injured. The death toll is rising. I'm not anti-Bush, I'm glad to have him as President. But I'm just very disappointed now, with the decision of the Iraqi war. If it was on the basis of "ridding the evil dictator", instead of WMDs, then he may have more justification for his actions. Yet again, there is debate on whether or not Saddam supported terrorism. I honestly don't know, maybe he did? So my conclusion is, I don't think the War on Iraq was strictly of God. Dave
Actually, no kind of war is of God. Just like no disease or suffering is of God. But He allows these things. But I guess the question is, would the war fall into what the Church would consider a just war (which still wouldn't make it a good thing)? There's been so much debate on here as to whether it is or isn't, and so I'm just not going to say anything in that regard.
Iacobus
One of the reasons I didn't support the war was the whole Afganastan thing. I didn't think we should have opened a new front with out 1st getting bin Laden. I am also unnerved by Bush changing the reason for war from WMD to change of power, so you are not alone Paladin. And the Sadam terrorism thing. Maybe, unlike with what intel we now have Sadam would have known that helping terroists would have been a death wish, he was helping terroists. But what we do know for sure now is that there are many times the number of terrorists in Iraq than there was before the war.
