RemnantRules
Blessed Be God!!! Hello phamily, I wanted to get y'alls thoughts on "Dying to self" I'm giving a talk on it this weekend at our retreat. You can give testimony, theological, ideological, or anything else that pops in your head when you hear this phrase. I have some things already, and I'll be posting them later on, but I wanted to hear from you all too. Thanks! God Bless
loveletslive
i think it's easiest to start with small things...instead of flipping off or getting pissed at the person who cuts you off in traffic, say a hail mary for them.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
In dying to self one commits to un-devided belief in GOD and that prayer works and that GOD desires all GOOD things in our life even though someitmes our sin contradicts this plan this is why he sent JESUS that we may not be cut off from his GRACE...to bleieve to love GOD with all our heart(charity)mind prayer and soul(dreams for virtues gain) and that believeing anything good is possible through GOD whom is LOVE and GOOD and has never commited a sin but thaqt we are human and subject to the world in a manner that all have fallen short in a small way or big way and that hell will never overcome the earth(for god created the earth and said it was very good) or the church although at times it may try through the saving power of JESUS CHRIST No more can sin overcome creation and destroy it with the saving gospels of forgiveness and understanding. At our own incapability but the supreme capability of GOD through christ. Guest Jon
Dying to self: What a fantastic subject!!! How does one count the ways ---after one has done everything there will then be the final dying to self ---giving up that which we consider most precious ---now this would be after giving up desires like certain foods or even fasting, controlling the flesh--giving up our egos in debates or in traffic, I don't know - sacrificing our time to charitable endeavors- this is off the top of my head-----ultimately it gets down to then, what becomes so precious to us --and I think one will find it to be our very thoughts. When we sit in meditation and we want to be filled with the grace and presence of God - how can we when our minds are chattering away? A full cup can not be then filled again --if we are filled with our precious thoughts - there is no room to be filled with God. Empty cup - then can be filled. Be still and know that I am God. Be still ---quiet the mind - still the thoughts ---experience ---that I am God. God bless, Jon
Lil Red
+J.M.J.+ the Anima Christi prayer. Soul of Christ, sanctify me Body of Christ, save me Blood of Christ, inebriate me (refresh me) Water from the side of Christ, wash me Passion of Christ, strengthen me O good Jesus, hear me Within Thy wounds hide me Separated from Thee let me never be From the malicious enemy defend me In the hour of my death call me And bid me come unto Thee That with thy saints I may praise Thee Forever and ever Amen
