FiereMargriet
If I know that I am not going to be receiving the Eucharist at Mass, do I still have to keep the one-hour fast before what would be the time when everyone else receives?
CatherineM
If you know that you are not going to be receiving, you do not have to keep the fast. I often tell my RCIA students that they can take part in the fast even before entering the church because there is communion of desire, and feeling hungry before entering mass is a feeling that should be embraced. We never have to fast, we are given the opportunity to fast. I'd be more concerned with why you aren't receiving than the communion fast.
