kafka
To disprove the Catholic faith? What proposition which, if it were proven to be true, would consequently disprove Catholicism?
no such proposition could possibly exist. Your inquiry does not even make sense to me. The Deposit of Faith or Divine Revelation is essentially, in its core a mystery. One cannot empirically or philosophically prove a mystery, inversely one cannot empirically or philosophically disprove a mystery. It goes beyond proof. Sorry buddy. kafka
Actually by Modus Tollens you would only need to prove any statment the Church has rulled infallibly upon.
Any infallible statement is drawn from Sacred Tradition (The Deeds wrought by God in salvation history) and/or Sacred Scripture(The Words written by God). Definitive Magisterial statements are assertions of the Holy Spirit concerning what is already revealed either explicitly or implicitly in Tradition and Scripture. The infallible teachings are not drawn up by the Magisterium like a scientific or philosophical proposition using scientific method or logic, etc. etc. etc. Edited May 26, 2009 by kafka
