Lil Red
+J.M.J.+ i've added a poll to see which encyclical to start with.
MissyP89
I'm in! I've never read an encyclical before, but am willing to wade through as I'm able. What are these four about? I know Deus Caritas Est is about God's love... Edited May 22, 2009 by MissyP89
Guest KevinSymonds
Sacramentum Caritatis it not an option. It's not an Encyclical Seriously though, I would love studies of the older Encyclicals first because they provide much background to the newer ones. Work your way from the bottom (foundation) up. That's the best approach. I vote Mirari Vos by Gregory XVI. If you've ever wanted to read Popes talk in the old language of "damnable, impious and perverse men" who spread their "accursed doctrines" over the entire world, then Gregory is for you. Deus Caritas Est is on Christian Love. Spe Salvi is on Christian Hope.

Most people would probably lose interest before you even got to Pio Nono.

AdesteFidelis
Totally in! Doesn't matter where we start, either, or if it is "too academic." I'm up for any of it.
