Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Peace, I'm a little put off by the cost of albums at christian book stores, is it the artist or the bookstores mark up, i know some artists are selling there cd's for the same cost as a mainstream corporate rip offs, i do know one christian bookstore that sells not-for profit and all the workers are volunteers, some of the stuff there compared to a few years ago has jumped from 20 bucks to high 20's and early 30's. Holy hiphop vols are still only like 14 dollars.Has anyone got holy hiphop vol 6 i was sent a post from there sight that it was available. Do you guys have dealings with the holy hiphop label, possibly could get a few R.C artists on there, might be nice.I find 75 percent of the holy hiphop fairly good(yeah i know it's kinda heavy handed "hey look if you don't agree, shoot me, i believe in heaven[scares me sometimes when i'm kinda not on song with christ haha]" and i can be mega critical, i can listen to a cd for 10 times end up only listning to 3 or 4 songs after 10 listens than realise "what tha, what gives them the right to say that, and not listen to any of it again for ages"i haven't heard any of the catholic artists might help soften those series? RezaMikhaeil
I know this might sound critical, but in many evangelical bases, orthodox and catholic hiphop artists aren't always welcomed. I think manchild getting baptised Roman Catholic helps break down that barrier, particularly because it shook many people in the evangelical realm that were't open to Roman Catholicism's world and foundation, but it's still difficult. I know alot of evangelical people that put together festivals/concerts/etc. don't invite their Roman Catholic friends that are musicians to be apart of those festivals and that's sad. Thou I'm not Roman Catholic but Coptic Orthodox, whenever I'm putting together shows and/or whatever having to do with hiphop, I involve whomever is willing to work with me. I've even got plans in the mix to provide beats to catholic artists that need them and is hard workers, just the same as I'm working wit notable rappers like Sadat X, whom I'm doing some tracks for right now. Even worse for me, alot of stores overcharge for releases, and only cut the artist in on 50% of the profits. I'm trying to give static identification away for $10 flat [double disc] and that leaves me with only $5 profit. That's what I got a serious problem with, you're only supporting the retailer, not the artist! Reza Edited May 11, 2009 by RezaLemmyng

And over 30 ? Huh ? Who would buy it ? Espicially christian music since it's usually not as good. Edited May 11, 2009 by Guest

It's good you see christianity as a whole, wonderful. I'm sad that the evangelical rappers buy into the myths about the roman catholic church. I'm fairly hardline I went from hell to heaven now back on earth again kinda thing, I've been back at church for 4-5 years, after since i was twelve basically being a punk pot head, drinker giving no second thought to what my family thought,(and thankyou lord jesus that my fam has always picked up the pieces)and i'm 30 now. For three years when i first came back i suddenly was thrust into a world where i was a hopefull sinner, in that i would rarely commit a deadly sin, and had ammended my breaking of the ten commandments(honour thy mother and father) and you break one commandment you break em all. The last year i've become some what of a hopeless sinner again and pretty confused, but am still attending mass and confession, very arid in prayer and reading the word, but hanging in there. What makes a roman catholic that has been through the same thing as the evangelical prodigals of the non-denominational christianity any less than them....the what now ? hmmm thats kinda suss to me and hypocritical. Does the holy hiphop series fit in this category? PAX

Guest
I dont think all "evenagelical" rappers are against the catholic faith. I think some have questions about it and there are surely some misunderstandings. I would be curious to see what christian rappers have openly came out against the cathoilc faith in their music ? I'm sure there has to be some and I have heard some of this in cross movement's music. I would love to see a list though with the artist and the lyrics. Im kinda slow and because of my brain damage from pot and alcohol i kinda start to steam, 1 year ago i didn't but know again i am. Pray for me please on this NO POT and Drink Don't Drunk. I'm not knocken nobody selling their albums. I think they should sell them and make money as it does cost money to make the cd's like you said. I guess what I meant when and "if" I complete my first project I will probally give it away free here on phatmass. One of the reasons is I will probally be using a majority of the beats from soundclick and to get rights for them you're looking at around 700 to a 1000 a peice. Although the soundlick beat makers dont mind if you use the beats for free as long as there for non profitable projects. So I think that is why I'll give my first cd away here on phatmass and if anyone likes it they can donate to phatmass. I have been saying I'm going to do a project for 6 years so we'll see. I have a real struggle with sin and I can't do anything for God if sin is getting the better of me. I would eventually like to become an offical phatmass artist though and if that ever happens i'm sure phatmass would provide the beats and then my album being sold here wouldn't be a problem. I didnt know he had anticatholic lyrics. His songs always seemed pretty corny to me. He also needs to be carefull of blasphemy of the holy spirit the only unforgivable sin. And that is to attribute to satan what is really of the holy spirit. So if the catholic faith is of God and he says it's not then that boy is in some serious trouble.
