I wasn't just thinking of my wedding. Sometimes I used to help out at weddings, being in the very last pew to get the bridesmaids to step off at the right time, signal the organist that the bride was ready etc, and I could see the grooms expression - they look stunned with delight.
Yeah, that first moment is so special. We went to a wedding this weekend and I specifically took a picture of the groom as the bride walked up the aisle with her dad and step-dad because the sheer joy on his face was so awesome to see.

My fiance and I will be greeting our guests as they enter and walking down the aisle together. I do not think I will be missing anything on my wedding day because he won't be standing at the end of the aisle grinning at me. I will be giddy with excitement no matter where I see him for the first time.

I can understand why some women think it is an incredibly special moment to walk down the aisle towards their soon to be husband, but it seemed more special to us that we process together towards the altar where we will enter into the sacrament of marriage. It somehow seems more appropriate that we will be together, confronted and welcomed by the giant crucifix hanging in the front of the Church.
