CatherineM
A book that I could read repeatedly and not grow tired of? The non-religious would probably be "Treasure" by Clive Cussler or maybe "Centennial" by James Mitchner. The religious would be, not counting the bible because that's too obvious, would be John Paul's "man and woman he created them" or "the holy longing" by Fr. Ron Rolheiser. kafka
John would be a good choice. I think I would take the Book of Psalms. That single book never ceases to amaze me. I could be used as a theology text, a prayer book, a study of salvation past, present, future. Non-religous. I really cant think well today, but I am leaning toward the Count of Monte Christo. Its a lot of fun to read.
TotusTuusMaria
Well the Bible is a given. But if my Bible was destroyed and only one book was left in it then I would like it to be one of the Gospels. It doesn't matter which one... I'll leave it up to providence. And for my non-religious... ah, ... kafka
you see, I would not worry about bringing a book along on how to survive. I would depend upon instinct, and the things God has knit into human nature and creation. for my non-religious I'm now leaning towards 'Moby D ick' Edited May 3, 2009 by kafka

And while I know what berries to eat you'll be poisoning yourself because you are relying on your "instinct" what is the problem with men and directions?
