Napolitano Apologizes for Offending Veterans After DHS Eyes Them for 'Rightwing Extremism'
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano apologized to veterans in a FOX News interview after a DHS report labeled returning troops at risk for embracing right-wing extremist.

snippet here:
A footnote in the report, which was released last week by DHS' Office of Intelligence and Analysis, said that while there is no specific information that domestic right-wing terrorists are planning acts of violence, such acts could come from unnamed "rightwing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, abortion, increasing federal power and restrictions on firearms -- and singled out returning war veterans as susceptible to recruitment.

Well....looks like I fit all of those. If I am disappeared, I leave my phatmass tshirt collection to dUSt for enshrinement.

Brother Adam

At least 60 million US citizens fall into that category. Did you notice that though, if you don't believe in Obama's administration, you are a terrorist.

Whoa! Crazy. I don't think Obama's government is thinking about neo-Nazis though.

Probably not, but I guess you can understand how the title shocked me though.

It's actually what they preferred to be called.

Madame Vengier

This is more on this topic in the Politicos forum. It really needs to be read by all Americans. Deeply troubling stuff.

And you can bet, they aren't sorry.

But then again, there are 800 tea parties around the U.S. right now, so some points are getting made loud and clear.

But meanwhile, the REAL terrorists--radical Islamic jihadists--aren't being called terrorists at all. In fact, there is no Islamic jihad and there is no war on terror. Those phrases, "war on terror" and "jihad" have been stricken from the venacular in government agencies. Bush did away with "jihad" and Obama just did away with "war on terror". Seems that where the government is concerned the real terrorists are Christians, Jews, pro-lifers of all stripes, conservatives and gun-rights advocates.

Revolt!

Did you notice the same thing happened under the last Administration? It was amazing how fast people could be slapped on the terrorist watch list for saying anything against the Bush Administration's will; like that reporter that did a story on the No Fly/Terror Watch List, and after it aired he found himself on it where he hadn't been before.

I also notice this is yet another political thread in Open Mic, like many threads in Open Mic anymore. I remember when this site was about Catholicism, or at least this board of it dealt with the Fullness of Truth.

Current events and things happening in the world should be viewed and discussed by Catholics through a Catholic lens. We can't just sit around talking theology. Theology has to be applied in this crazy world we live in.

I read the snippet quoted in the original post: "right-wing terrorists are planning acts of violence..."

I'm confused on where the assumption lies that all right-wing people are terrorists? That wasn't in the article.
