tobk2000
Ok, so i've been thinking, and I want to get other people's opinion on this. A lot of times, when you see pictures of Jesus and stuff, he seems like a little guy, and sort of passive. It doesn't seem like he would be like this at all though.

He was a carpenter: he worked with his hands, and with wood. Not a wimpy guy
he earned the respect of the fisherman, who were the tough guys of the first century
He is the Lion of Judah, the commander of the hosts of angels of heaven
when the sanhedrin seized him, they came with clubs. obviously they were afraid of him
he drove people out of the temple with a whip
he carried a massive cross up the road to calvary, after being beaten nearly to the point of death
he stood up to all of the pharisees and scribes: he NEVER backed down
All of these things make me think he wasn't such a "nice" guy as you see in all the pictures and when you think of Him. This, at least for me is comforting, knowing that God is no wimp, and can protect me from the evils of Satan. It also is terrifying too. I dunno tell me what you think. M.SIGGA
I really liked the way he was depicted in the Passion movie because it made a good balance. You forgot that he was also an awesome public speaker who attracted masses of people around him. Women also followed him around. He had to have charisma or people wouldn't have flocked to hear him speak. Read the Gospels of his reactions to the poor and the sick and other people who experienced his miracles to see compassion. God Conquers
I think He was a pretty intimidating man. Clearly He would have displayed Authority in the way He held himself and talked, or else no one would listen..
Laudate_Dominum
He was strong, but He was also the most loving guy ever. He can be tough when He needs to be because He is a real man, but always loving and forgiving. And it seems like most people were quite comfortable around Him. I think the people around Him sensed that He was powerful. He spoke with authority and did miracles so people knew that He wasn't just an ordinary guy. I like the part in John where the soldiers who had been sent to capture Jesus returned empty handed and when they were asked why they hadn't arrested Jesus all they said was "no man ever spoke like this man". Lil Red
I love this picture of Jesus, because he looks so strong and capable in it. And ya know, I think you're right. Alot of movies and things portray Jesus as a wimpy, almost feminine person. And He wasn't, for the reasons you already have listed.
Bruce S
Actually, if Jesus WANTED a physical description of Him to exist, the NT would have ONE mention of ANY physical attribute of Him. It does not, as God expressly forbids representation of Him in any form, we know God can't break His own commandments, thus no description or representations are in His cannon. Of course we can't mention that here, can we? PS: That invalidates the Shroud of Turin too. You guys may want to spend some time with this link, this one staggered me, I'm still reeling from the implications on this one, suggest you print it out and study hard copy form. Much of it was pretty silly I thought. Since you seem to enjoy these issues so much you would probably greatly enjoy this text: "God's Human Face: The Christ Icon", by Christoph Schoenborn It's pretty cheap on amazon.com or something. God bless.

EcceNovaFacioOmni
There was an article a while ago in Popular Science where forensic scientists tried to reconstruct Jesus' appearance and stuff. They point to Paul's talk of long hair as a disgrace and claim that he probably didn't have it. The carpenter aspect of his life would have made him a strong man physically. I've also seen a guy on TV who says Jesus was probably a very powerful speaker, and I bet he's right.
