Paladin D
Zodiac signs, people refer to them pretty often either in the paper, blogs, Myspace, or in daily conversation. Am I the only one that gets annoyed when people ask for my 'Zodiac sign', as if they're trying to see if I'm a good person or not, based upon some stupid chart? Just had this one girl ask me "What's your sign? I'm Capricorn", to which I replied "I don't know, I'm not really into that stuff" and I received an oddball look. Apparently I'm "Aquarius". Woop-dee-doo. Continue staring at the stars you idiotic broad. Edited March 31, 2009 by Paladin D
philothea
Yeah, I usually start explaining that the gravitational pull of the truck that just drove by is way bigger than any of those stars they're talking about. ... and they flee.

I think there are times and places where it would be inappropriate to talk about it (occasions of scandal) but again, it's not as though we're deciding everything about a person based on their astrological sign. I don't hear Capricorn and think, "Oo! An Earth sign! Good for Taurus and Virgo friends." This is kinda like everyone getting their panties in a wad over reading The Shack or something similar.

Nothing in the Catechism about the danger of reading flakey self published Christian books. HisChildForever
I had this girl in one of my classes who randomly asked our professor his Zodiac sign. The following semester she was is another class with me, and did the same thing. It turns out she just likes to know? I just found that bizarre. Zodiac signs kill me. I am a Taurus so I will use that one as an example - each Taurus reading for today CONFLICTS or is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT depending on the paper or website you "consult." To get around this you will find "love horoscope" and "employment horoscope." Lame, lame, lame. Not only that, but there are only twelve signs, which destroys the uniqueness of personality. So EVERY Taurus should watch their back on Friday because a man in a dark cape is going to deliver them bad news? Do you know how MANY people are a Taurus? And where do the "readings" originate from? They are clearly made up! Edited March 31, 2009 by HisChildForever

Inquiring about someone astrological sign is hardly suggesting that they look up their horoscope or "trust" it. I'll admit that it's not the most interesting conversation starter but it's not essentially evil, I don't believe.
CatherineM
I am an Aries, which I have been told repeatedly in my life could be the cause of my stubbornness. I find the whole thing silly. I remember once in college having a roommate read a list of traits for Aries to me, and then she said it had really nailed me. I asked for the list, and began reading from the traits of other signs without telling her. She was amazed that it could nail me, and then I showed her that I had been reading from Virgo and Capricorn. I told her to close her eyes, and point to any spot on the page, and it would also nail her personality. That's when she finally "got it."
Arpy
For me, astrology lost any credibility it might have had after the Pluto incident.
MIKolbe
went to a company party once, had a zodiac lady there... I told her I am a leo.. so is my wife... She asked if i 'knew what that meant'.. i said... 'it means no matter what she's right and I'm wrong' the lady just stared at me. my wife elbowed me for being rude. Then I went to the bar. I find it ridiculous any of them can apply to one person. Horoscopes could come in handier if they figured out when terrorists attacks were going to happen. Something more than "bad things will happen" would be helpful. ---------------- Listening to: Coldplay - Clocks via FoxyTunes
