Hillary Clinton

"Who painted it?" Hillary cannot possibly be so ignorant can she?" This had to have been a calculated statement.

This occurred just before Clinton's visit to Houston to attend a Planned Parenthood banquet attended by 800. Outside in protest were 990 prayerful protesters dressed in red. Not one major TV station covered this protest except for the local Fox station. :annoyed:

I wonder if Hillary understands that Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the Americas, and that, as an American citizen, Our Lady is "her virgin", too?
Honestly, I find this kinda disturbing. Not entirely sure why, but I read this and just feel really really bad.

Not just being sarcastic.
No surprise. This thread is full of Catholics who clearly don't have too, too much concern for the soul of this woman, nor are willing to show one single ounce of joy that she even visited the Basilica in the first place, and CLEARLY no compassion for the lack of religious exposure she and her staff have had (it's notable that comments on this point went totally ignored). What makes any of you think the whole world should know and understand everything that Catholics believe anyway?? Have some humility. The world doesn't revolve around Catholics.

The opinions of the Catholics in this thread, referring to Hillary has stupid, and practically calling down hellfire for her apparently egregious oversight and "disturbing" mistake...these opinions are embarrassing and shameful. And I'm going to remember every one of them the next time you all are lecturing someone else about charity and compassion in some other thread.

That's nice. As previously stated elsewhere, your goal in life is to "become a saint" is that correct? Normally, I would agree that our country is being run by morons (and the same can be said about a lot of things) but not because some poor woman didn't know the story of Guadalupe but chose to visit our Basilica ANYWAY.

Honestly, I don't think too much of it. When I was younger and Protestanter, I was in Mexico and visited the Bascilica. Had I not been prepped, I could see myself saying the same thing. The point is, though, she should have been prepped by someone.

Ok so I just got off the phone with a friend who shared this story with me and then I came here to see if you guys had posted on it.

You had.

When he was telling me about it I got chills.

The Bascilica was closed. Our Lady's image was taken down and Hilary Clinton stared at it face to face. This is HUGE. And she places flowers in front of it before the idiotic statement, "Who painted it?"

She just doesn't get it. And this all before she goes to receive an award from Planned Parenthood.

It is far too eerie. Our Lady, through that living image, came down and stared Hilary Clinton in the eyes as Patroness of the Unborn before she went to receive that death award.

Hilary Clinton has no idea who she is dealing with. lol @ placed flowers in front of the image.

She's not Catholic. She can't be expected to know these things. Ask her about something from her religion, something about the Zionist conspiracy or how best to cheat your employees out of just wages.

Oh yeah, I agree. I certainly understand that this isn't common knowledge to non-Catholics. I had never really encountered info about it before converting. Or if I did, I forgot about it. Just seems like her staff should have prepped her, IMHO. Though, of course, we all misspeak at one time or another.

We are all quite happy she came face to face with a painting by a saint, but I think the general point is her staff is doing a lousy job of preparing her for her jaunts, just as they did a terrible job dealing with the gifts for the Brits.

That was my point as well that either her staff was unprepared, or she didn't bother to listen to them. The first time I went to the Shrine, I saw an elderly woman on her knees, and ran over to help her up. I got bopped, but was with my Godmother who explained that it is an act of piety to approach on your knees. At least it was 30+ years ago. I, however, was just a stupid teenager, not a representative of the US Government with an entire posse.

If she made a similar goof in a Muslim or Jewish Temple, it would be an international incident. If she went around taking prayers out of the Wailing Wall and reading them, or went into a Mosque in Yemen or Saudi Arabia in her shoes and started shaking mens' hands, we would probably have to pay ransom or something to get her back.

I'm certainly grateful she went to the Shrine, and hope that Our Lady will touch her heart. If anyone can convert her, those are the best hands.

I get the sense it wasnt a PR visit. Maybe perhaps out of curiosity?

Excuse me, but weren't you the one lecturing me in another thread about charity? But maybe that only applies to people who are already Catholic and/or new converts.
if you are referring to the topic's title, that is where i wrote stupidity yes. and i stand by it. i didn't necessarily call her stupid but she did a stupid act. can i not call her out on that one? everybody else calls everybody out on acts of stupidity. u want us on this post to treat her nicely but yet after reading ur posts you are treating us the way we are treating her. is that right? maybe they arent meant this way but ur posts are coming off with an attitude at least to me anyway.

and i dont lecture, i voice my opinion.

Heaven knows Hillary not a catholic and is ignorant about said beliefs, but I find it hard to believe her entourage hadn’t explained in detail what the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe inside the Basilica de Guadalupe represented.
Perhaps Secretary of State Hillary Clinton action was deliberate to appease her base and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America – for her gala event in Houston, Texas to receive the Margaret Sanger Award, the following day.
