Dennis Tate
The Levitical Covenant was not observed for very long in the past, and never perfectly, so I suppose that the prophecies that it will be observed during the era of Messiah/Moshiach will be the first time that the Jewish people ever in history had the opportunity to carry out the sacrifices in the way that God had intended. We Christians will be watching what they do....exactly how and when they do it....and we will be noticing levels of meaning within levels of meaning that we had never noticed before! Aloysius
Jesus told the man to show himself to the temple priests, because He had not yet fulfilled all things by His sacrifice. the perfect levitical sacrifice was Christ on the cross. no other sacrifice is sufficient, every other sacrifice pointed to it, and when Christ sacrificed Himself on the cross, He fulfilled the whole law. no attempt to follow the prescriptions of old testament sacrifices will appease God. the way God always intended those sacrifices to be made was with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, and the unbloody re-presentation of it that goes from East to West when we break bread and "do this in commemoration" of Him. That is what the prophesies you are quoting are pointing to, that Jesus Christ's sacrifice will be present in all the tabernacles throughout the whole world, to every corner of the earth, the blood of the Perfect Sacrifice available to wash over all people, Jew and Gentile, all nations, in baptism and the Eucharist.
