Gardasil Side Affects

I was reading the Sooner Catholic online, and there was an article about Gardasil, the HPV vaccine that they are trying to get every school girl to take. I was shocked to read that there have been 29 deaths, and many serious side affects. The Article said, "Gardasil led to three times (that’s 300 percent) more emergency room visits, five times (500 percent) more fatalities, and 30 times (3000 percent) more side effects. And these are not minor side effects. We’re talking strokes, heart episodes, lupus, paralysis."

If you click on the link, it is a pdf, and it is on page 10.

I wondered if this had been publicized in the US, and just hadn't made it up here. I wouldn't have a child of mine take it.

Nihil Obstat

I was talking about this a few months back.

I think the vaccine got politicized, and because of that, normal safety procedures may not have been followed. The drug trials turned into a quest.

It's just ridiculous.

Aren't some politicians thinking about making this vaccine mandatory on top of this? Because I find it really scary.

So far three girls have died because of it and many are paralyzed.

That's the statistic I saw as well.

Yes, I saw that, too. I'm appalled at how they've been pushing it through so fast, without the necessary testing. They're going a bit slower on it here, and yet I think they're still going to fast with it here. (For comparison, they still haven't approved the varicella vaccine here, because they don't know the long-term effects of it).

Of course not. At least, not very widely. I haven't heard it and I have a girl in this age group. She is not vaccinated, though and won't be because I think vaccinating 12 year olds for this is dumb.

"Mandatory" is such an arbitrary word at this point. It's mandatory only if you cave to the authorities that tell you you must get it. In our state, you can sign a conscientious objector form for every vaccine (I believe) and still be compliant with the law. Recently MN made a second chicken pox vaccination "mandatory" and we are not running out to get it (only HSson major would "need" it because he's not had the pox-- the other two have).

It doesn't surprise me.

I mean there are deadly tumors being caused by using embyronic stem cells, research shows that adult stem cells are safer so the fact that people are pushing this is not surprising in the least.

I really feel its a money-making business at this point. And safety is merely taking a backseat. They are pushing this so much and its ridiculous how unsafe it is.

Gardasil side effects prompt CDC study
August 13, 2008 — 6:06am ET | By Christe Bruderlin-Nelson

Merck is likely quite displeased with the barrage of negative press about its cervical cancer vaccine's side effects, especially after a public interest group, Judicial Watch, released a report at the end of last month saying there were 9,749 adverse reactions and 21 reported deaths related to Gardasil in the last two years.

According to the report, there have been 78 severe outbreaks of genital warts, six cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome and at least 10 miscarriages reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) since the approval of Gardasil. However, a study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that clinicians, patients and drug companies report only about 10 percent of side effects to VAERS, so the actual number of Gardasil side effects could be much higher.

Some experts say Merck has also overstated the vaccine's effectiveness and that the evidence just isn't there yet. In light of the potential side effects and the drugs' young female target audience, many also are questioning Merck's continual push to place the drug on state mandatory vaccine lists.

For its part, Merck says there is no evidence that the vaccine and the reported side effects and deaths are related, and the CDC plans to release a study in October that will help determine whether a true linkage between Gardasil and the reported adverse reactions exists.

I have heard that Gardasil has issues, although I never imagined it was so high.
It may not be mandetory yet, but most docters are pushing it. I went to mine last week and I honestly was getting to the point that i was just going to ignore her because she kept pushing it. What part of "No, i don't want it. " did she not understand?

my doctor was VERY enthusiastic about it and talked about it for a good 5-10 minutes, trying to convince me of the benefits. when she said something to the effect of "you might have sexual partners in the future who have HPV" I guess I looked at her funny, because she quickly backtracked to "of course, sexual acts aren't the ONLY way to get it". after her spiel my mom said "we'll talk about it", and when the doctor left the room I started to say "are you kidding?? there's no way..." and my mom said "of course I won't make you take it, I just wanted to get her to stop talking about it." :hehe:

HPV is so rampant, it freaks me out. Im afraid if I shake someones hand I'll get it at this rate  The thing about this particular vaccine, is that it only works on certain strains of the virus, so that means it may become obsolete in the future...just a though anyway.
