I'm having a hard time finding shoes that have wide sizes, so was wondering if I am a freak of nature or if most people really do have regular width feet.

All the cool shoes are for wide feet.

My feet are narrow, and I can't find heels that won't slide off.

I totally disagree, all the cool shoes are for people with narrow feet. I always have to buy bigger sizes because they are rarely wide enough. I went to 8 shoe stores in 3 malls and couldn't find on single pair of low-heel shoes that I could get on. I finally ended up buying Mary Jane style crocs. So much for dress shoes. :( :(

I have small feet for my size :sadwalk:

I have always believed it is from my time doing Karate as a child, but I have no proof

Not like freakishly small, just small.

What possible reason do you have to link small feet with karate?

You can't make the kicks if your feet are too heavy.

I ask because my son is second degree brown belt in TKD and I haven't had to buy him a new pair of shoes (because of size) in over a year.

My feet are narrow, but my biggest problem is that my arch is very high, and my feet are very long. They don't make nice women's dress shoes in 13's except for drag queens, and I'm not wearing red patent leather pumps anytime soon. The only shoes I can wear without setting off a round of plantar fasciitis are Nike air, but then for only 3 months. After that they go to Goodwill. I told my husband I was high maintenance because of my feet.

It's in no way a scientific judgement and I really doubt there is anything to it :)

Goju ru has no division between children ranks and adult ranks so when I got my black belt at age 8 I was doing physical activities more designed for physically mature adults, or at least more mature teenagers. I've noticed that hurt my ankles more that other physically active friends (not that much more) and always, for whatever reason, linked all the hard impact I put on my feet with both these conditions. I really don't want to alarm you though, I mean I do feel my feet are a bit small for my size but we are talking about a bit, not anything anyone would notice.

Good luck to your son with TKD. I have two little cousins in it and they both enjoy it greatly :)

Well, my son is small all over for his age. I have no doubt that he could kick me in the head if he wanted to...
