Giving Up Lame Board During Lent

As you all know, our beloved pope Benedict recently warned that internet users must resist any temptations to "trivialize the concept or the experience of friendship," and to become absorbed in the digital world "at the cost of our availability to engage with our families, our neighbors."

To keep it simple : the more time you spend on Phatmass, the less time you have for family and neighbours. I'm not trying to convince you to give up Phatmass, but how about the lame board ? I'm sometimes amazed to see that so many Christians waste the precious time God has given them in such a stupid way... and complain afterwards that so many things go wrong (including presidential elections).
So how about giving up the lame board at least for lent and spent some more time with God or people (other then lb fanatics) ?
I hope his doesn't sound harsh (nore lame !).
If it does, feel free to correct me before my next confession.

<sigh> Long story short....

Open Mic used to be riddled with Lame-ish threads (not nearly as lame as the current Lame Board, though)... games, insider discussions etc. In an effort to remove them from Open Mic (thus allowing OM to have more "regular" conversations), Lame Board was created.

Frankly, I think it's a waste of bandwidth, but at least it keeps OM clean.

I've always wondered why they created that on phatmass...
Its been a place where we can transfer the threads that are considered a waste of time, simply posted to blow off steam, or have degenerated to silliness because people can't stay on topic, and keeps the rest of phatmass open to normal conversation.

Yeah, basically people took the idea and ran with it. Ran really, really fast. :topsy:
maybe a waste of time, space and brainpower?
Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it a waste of time. If people want to unwind by joshing about inconsequentials, why do you have do begrudge them that?

When you spend most of your day confined to a classroom or cubicle or both at once, sometimes it's good to come home and be silly.

Friends online are still friends, after all. I mean...when I get together with friends online I do pretty much the same thing I'd be doing online: playing games, chatting, and having fun.

It's a fellowship opportunity, so no, not a waste of bandwidth.

Giving up the lame board during Lent? That's like giving up singing in Mass, isn't it? And it makes as much sense.
