Brother Adam
I worked for a bookstore and now i'll never go back after learning how corrupt they are. cmom- anything I can get my hands on to be honest. I can easily get lost in a bookstore and not appear again the rest of the day. We have a local used christian bookstore in town that my wife won't let me go into for fear of never seeing me again. Colleen
We have a local used christian bookstore in town that my wife won't let me go into for fear of never seeing me again.
lol I know how that is. I always say to my mom, I'll just go in for a few minutes. Which turns into an hour or two.
prov31girl
I know what you mean Bro Adam. My friend and I want to read a coupole of Scott Hahn's books, but they are nowehere to be found. So we're probably just gonna have to order them online, and pay for shipping and all that jazz.

immaculata
watching me in our Catholic bookstore is like watching a kid in a candy shop!! "OoOH!! OOH!! Look, mommy!!! They've got crucifixes!! homeschoolmom
Okay, here's how sad and pathetic HS_Dad and I are... we get a chance to go out without the kids... nine times out of ten we'll go to the bookstore, grab stuff to read, sit in the coffee shop and read (usually to each other... "Listen to this!") Then we go home... I guess I'm a cheap date! Brother Adam, you should see if you can get stuff through inter-library loan. HS_Dad has gotten LOTS of stuff (even accedemic Catholic stuff) this way. Ask at your library. It's a great way to get obscure stuff for free! Sojourner
I rarely buy Christian books at a Christian bookstore. For one, I hate the plethora of cheesy knick-knacks that seem to be everywhere in those stores (Precious Moments figurines, anyone?) and secondly, they never seem to have the books I'm looking for. Most stores I've visited carry a bunch of self-help or devotional books, but nothing with much meat in it. So I end up going to Borders or Barnes and Noble or ordering things online. mom25angels
Fortunetly, we have a decent Catholic bookstore here, but I can relate---no homeschooling resources here. I must always order and pay the shipping. It grates on my frugal side!!!!

Archangel
When all else fails, you can go to half.com to look for books at cheap prices. For example, you can look for "Scott Hahn" books.
