Quantum Touch, What's The Church's Position On It?

Yo Pham,

I have a friend who is recieving quantum touch massages, and I warned him against it because I am suspicious of anything remotely New Age. What is the Church's position and what evidence can I show him so he can see that it's wrong?

Just from a brief google search, what I see of Quantum Touch is that it is an energy healing method. While some of the things they have can be healing (general massage, physical rehabilitation, even biofeedback, if not done with a new-age add-on), we should generally stay clear of things that promote "energy healing." While it is true that humans have a small electric charge (very, very small), we certainly can't heal others with it, much less heal ourselves. This is one of those abundant occasions when the Church and science are in complete agreement. Furthermore, the spirit doesn't have any power to heal, and certainly not through energy in the scientific sense, since energy a part of the physical world and not a part of the spiritual world (though the term "energy" is used in Eastern Catholic theology, but it doesn't mean the same thing as in physics).

I don't think it is specifically mentioned, but you might find something if you search through "Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Water of Life," a joint publication of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and the Council for Pontifical Council for Culture. I searched the words "heal," "health," and "healthy," and found several interesting parts regarding "holistic" healing methods.
