aByzantineCatholic
Pedro,
Did you guys remodel the building you have? The pictures of the inside are beautiful, but the outside looks kind of like a Methodist church. Anyway, from looking through the website I would say you are truly blessed by such a church, and by such an amazing and beautiful tradition.
I believe it was a Methodist Church. We bought it and basically just wrote the Icons on the walls. The rest remains the same. We have only about 70 members and the priest isn't that young. We do what we can do. However, the Church is FULL of Love and respect/devotion to Our Lord. God Bless! Edited March 20, 2004 by aByzantineCatholic
Colleen
My parish is Our Lady of Mt Carmel, but we often go to other churches for Mass. But my favorite church to visit is St. Mary's of the Angels in Chicago.

Birgitta Noel
Hi Sarah, No, we weren't there last night, but I did drop by today for a few minutes just to soak in the beauty of the church. I'm sure you've noticed that the artists painted some of the Brothers and Priests into the paintings....

I've heard that Fr. Steve is planning a huge remodeling project like St. Mark's in the not-too-distant future, though! My mom saw the plans, and she says it'll be gorgeous- not as modern-esque as it is now. YAY!! Let me know when you find some pics of the inside of St. Marks!! (ps- your website is SO much cooler than ours. http://www.peoriaholyfamily.com The parish side doesn't even work! I used to keep up the Youth page: http://www.peoriaholyfamily.com/youth, but we don't have a youth group anymore )

Did you know the ORIGINAL high altar was DONATED back to the parish when the gentleman who purchased it ,when it was torn out( ) , heard that Father wanted to restore the church?? There were so many things like this that happened(like the fact that it's completely paid for). Sarah

No way I am from the North Park Area, now living in eastern Pa in the Poconos... Have you gone to St. Pauls Cathedral in Oakland yet? If not you must. It will take your breath away. I used to always go to daily mass at 7:00 P. M. every weekday. They have confession afterwards. (which I admit was one of the deciding factors in my first trip down). mamalove
The official title is Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church (long...I know) in Goddard, Kansas just west of Wichita. We are the newest church in the diocese and we are kinda small right now, but growing steadily. I used to belong to St. Mark the Evangelist and I wish I had a picture to share because it is so beautiful and so full of history (It's actually a historic landmark now). It is a German parish and German was the predominant language (besides Latin) that was spoken in the church. Homilies were in German right up until WWII when it wasn't really cool to be German. Even then, confessions were still heard in German. It is called the "Mother Church" of West Sedgwick County (the county that includes Wichita) because she was the first catholic church in the area. I grew up there and it will always be home to me. I received all my sacraments there: Baptism, 1st Confession, 1st Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Matrimony. When I die, I will be buried there.
