TotusTuusMaria
There is suppose to be some two-story Catholic store there.... anyone know anything about it? I googled it, and I am not finding anything. Ever been there? Know somewhere (particularly of a religious tone) that I should visit?
Archaeology cat
Go to Blackstone. OK, not a Catholic site, but my father-in-law was the brewmaster there until he last year. There's a nice old church in the Germantown area, Assumption. Other than that, I don't know much about Catholic sites in Nashville. Our visits there are usually just about trying to cram in seeing everyone we know. Have fun!
LouisvilleFan
There are a number of great microbreweries in pubs in the downtown/Vanderbilt area. The cathedral is in that area too. Looks pretty incredible from the pictures I've seen. I know the Nashville Dominicans are in Nashville, and I think there's a Catholic university that some of them teach at. A lot of specifics, I know But speaking of Nashville, I'm due for a short road trip there myself.
Ave Maria Totus Tuus
Wow! So glad you're coming to my fair city! Yes, there is a 4-story Catholic bookstore called St. Mary's; its like two split level, in an old house, kinda? www.stmarysbookstore.com Definitely see the St. Cecilia Motherhouse of the Nashville Dominicans. (I can give you details about visiting them via PM) The Cathedral of the Incarnation is quite beautiful, in the Vandy area. Assumption is a beautiful parish in the Germantown neighborhood. St. Mary's downtown is the old original Cathedral--I think they only have Mass on Sundays, sometimes in Latin... PM me and I can give you details on what's going on in the city when you are here, especially Catholic-ness! Or other stuff, too.
Zoecool13
I suggest going back home.
thicke
Well, the store is called St. Mary's. It's not two stories, it's four..... It's right down the street from the Cathedral, on West street. I also highly recommend attending LOTH at the Dominican convent. It's so awesome to hear those sisters chanting the Psalms. Dave
The Cathedral of the Incarnation is beautiful ... but don't go to Mass there unless you want one filled with liturgical abuses (unless, of course, they've gotten a more orthodox rector since then). I have been to Nashville too, and I don't have fond memories of it, but that was before I was interested in the Catholic world of Nashville. The FOUR STORY bookstore is so very appealing... and the Nashville Dominicans ... it would be awesome just to go see their convent. They don't have a lot of good logic texts, but it's still pretty good. Also they have the vestments of Tsar Nicholas II's chaplin Also, last time I was reading there I kept heard someone trying to get my attenton, "psstt!" but I was the only one there and it was like 1AM so I got freaked out. Turns out it was the air freshner Edited February 12, 2009 by Hassan
