XIX
So this almost-Expert taught me a new opening game, and I got back and I'm all like "ooooo I get to play with my new toys on chesshere.com!!!1 :) " XIX = white Some other chump = black
1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 d5 3.c4 c6 4.cxd5 Nxd5 5.e3 e6 6.a3 Nd7 7.Bd3 N7f6 8.O-O Be7 9.Nc3 O-O 10.Qc2 Bd7 11.h4 a6 12.Ng5
Nargh. Meant to NOT castle or to castle on Queen's side, I think? Either way, this attack would have been more effective if I had my rook on the h file (which is part of why I moved my h-pawn forward. Also meant to get my black bishop out and pin his knight against his queen, thereby getting rid of an important defensive piece. And hopefully he's capture with his bishop, thereby disorienting his bishop bigtime. A rather nasty attack would still ensue.
g6 13.Be2 Kg7 14.h5 Nxh5 15.Bxh5 Bxg5 16.e4 Nxc3 17.bxc3 gxh5
Totally miscalculated the loss of material here. I really needed to retreat my bishop instead of moving h5.
18.Rb1 b5 19.Rd1 f5 20.exf5 Rxf5 21.Rd3 Qf6 22.Rg3 Kf7 23.Bxg5 Qh8
Trap. GIVE ME BACK MY SON! I mean, bishop. Give me back my bishop. He's forced to retreat the queen and give up the bishop to avoid me taking b7 and just start gorging myself on his pawns.
24.Qd3 Rg8 25.Bh4 Rg4 26.Rxg4 hxg4 27.Re1 h5 28.c4 Qh6 29.d5 bxc4
Down one pawn here...still like my position better.
30.Qxc4 cxd5 31.Qxa6 Qd2 32.Rf1 d4 33.Qd6 Kg6
Trap. Maybe If he tried to defend with his king, it's Qe7 and checkmate. Not sure why he didn't move Bb5. But he ends up conceding his bishop.
34.Qxd7 Qe2 35.Qxd4 Rd5 36.Qf6+ Kh7 37.Bg5 Rf5 38.Qh6+ Kg8 39.Qxh5 1-0 ('some other chump' resigns)
He seemed a bit hasty to resign IMO. With a rook and a queen on the board, being down a bishop and a pawn is not impossible. Edited March 13, 2009 by XIX

XIX
Me = black. White rated 1640 or something very very good like that.
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 h6
Went h6 to avoid putting my queen/rook combo in a prone position
4.Nc3 Bb4 5.O-O Bxc3 6.dxc3
Didn't take me with his b-pawn. didn't expect that.
9.gxh3 Qd7 10.Kh2 g5 11.Ng1 O-O-O
He had to move his knight to prevent me forking his knight and his pawn with my pawn. Right now I'm just glad I can hang with someone his calibre. But freaking heck. The choump beat me. Choump. My rating is still like 1380 or something mediocre like that (accorging to chesshere ratings). Right now I'm hoping to be a 1200-level player when I actually start doing tournaments that matter. (that's on a rating scalre that marks 1000 as the average, not 1400) I'm really starting to like the whole sacrifice your bishop and hope to wreak enough havoc on opponent's king strategy. especially against stronger opponents whom I'll have to gamble against. Went h6 to avoid putting my queen/rook combo in a prone position
Waste of a move. Need to develop the bishop or knight. If your scared of combos, you should play as white and I'll show you how to defend against those.
Didn't take me with his b-pawn. didn't expect that. I'd expect him to free up the b-rook file and to keep his pawns in the center. Especially when the b-file is on the opposite side that he castled.
taking with d-pawn opens for the dark-squared bishop to be developed. Plus the queen has an open file. Although technically taking with b-pawn is probably a bit stronger because then you prepare d4.
He moved h3 basically to take power away from my bishop. XIX
The Chump requested commentary: I'm black. 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 Nc6 I guess he sort of traps my bishop early, but otherwise I don't really see why you'd bring out your queen on move 2. 3.Bc4 Qe7 4.d3 Nf6 And so I start chasing the other guy's queen and he's wasting moves. 5.Qf3 Nd4 6.Qd1 d6 Um. Why did I block my bishop there? Oh wait that's right, to free up my white bishop. And avoid extra moves. Still. Better move might have been to move my queen back since I no longer have to defend that square. 7.c3 Nc6 8.h3 Be6 9.Bb5 Qd7 10.f3 a6 11.Ba4 b5 12.Bb3 Be7 Super wary of doubling up white's pawn alignment--I'm still not sure how bad it is to double up one's pawns. Obviously it makes your pawns weaker but it can also open up a rook file. Hence I wanted to leave his bishop alone and get him to take me first instead. Thereby developing my queen in the process. But nothing of the sort would happen for either side... 13.d4 a5 14.d5 a4 Can. Not. Believe I stared right at that pawnfork without even seeing it coming at all. I tried to weasel my way out of losing material... 15.Bc2 Bxd5 16.exd5 Nd8 17.Bd3?? Nxd5 ...but no dice. I'm down 2 points. Until he moves his bishop and gives away his pawn. Now I'm down 1 point in power... 18.Qe2 c6 19.c4 Nf4 20.Qf1 Nxd3+ 21.Qxd3 Bh4+ 22.Kd1 O-O ...and force him to move his king. His king safety is doomed for the rest of the match. Things are looking up for XIX, although white is targeting a pawn. And things start getting even more interesting. 23.Nc3 b4 24.Ne4 Ra7 25.Nxd6 Nb7 I thought he made a mistake and that I pinned his knight against his queen. Ha. How cute of me. 26.Be3 Nxd6 I don't think this was the best move. I figure I take his knight, he gets my rook and I get his bishop. I come out even on power. Totally missed the fact that I had to move my queen away from my knight to take his bishop. So I change things up a bit. 27.Bxa7 Rd8 28.Kc2? Qxa7 I was expecting him to retreat the bishop to save his power advantage, but he seemed more interested in defending his king. Interesting to think like that at these later stages. 29.Re1??!? Bxe1 White gives a rook away and gives black the lead. 30.Qe2 Qf2 31.Kd3 Qxe2+ 32.Nxe2 And we trade queens, game is mostly over at this point despite the fact that it took me 44 more moves to get there. Bh4 33.g3 Nf5+ 34.Kc2 Nxg3 35.Nxg3 Bxg3 36.Rg1 Bf4 37.Rg2 Rd4 38.b3 axb3+ 39.Kxb3 c5 40.Rf2 e4 41.fxe4 Rxe4 42.h4 Bg3 43.Rd2 h6 44.h5 Re5 45.Rd3 Rg5 46.Ka4 g6 47.hxg6 fxg6 48.Kb5 h5 49.Rd8+ Kh7 50.Rc8 h4 51.Rxc5 Rxc5+ 52.Kxc5 h3 53.Kxb4 Bf2 54.a4 h2 55.c5 Bxc5+ 56.Kxc5 h1=Q 57.a5 Qa1 58.Kb6 g5 59.a6 Qxa6+ 60.Kxa6 g4 61.Kb5 g3 62.Kc4 g2 63.Kd3 g1=Q 64.Kc4 Qg5 65.Kd3 Qf4 66.Kc3 Kg6 67.Kd3 Kf5 68.Ke2 Qg3 69.Kd2 Qf3 70.Kc2 Qe3 71.Kb2 Qd3 72.Kc1 Qe2 73.Kb1 Ke4 74.Kc1 Kd3 75.Kb1 Kc3 76.Ka1 Qb2# Meh. I'm not going to insult you by pretending anything really happened these last 40 moves other than him offering me a draw because he doesn't think it's possible to checkmate with only a queen and a king. I declined and then beat him with a king and a queen, who then had the whole board all to themselves. He owes me $
