Hassan
ok, So a few weeks ago a moderator mentioned that "I Don't Rep Pope" was for people who claimed to be Catholic but taught heterodox ideas. I've identified myself as a lot of religions, "I ono" (that is agnostic), "Agonostic", "Secret Muslim", "Secret Gentleman", "Secret Jew", "Kittiologist", "Secret Womanizer" (ask Tinkerena) etc, but never have I identified myself as a Catholic. Obviously as I waited a number of weeks/forgot to ask it's not a big deal or anything but I guess I am wondering why I have to have the marking and subsequent limitations if I don't identifiy myself as a Catholic. I mean if that's not correct and it's also a punitive measure for non Catholic who argue against some Church teachings then I understand but if not then what's up? Sorry for the thread but as I am "I Don't Rep Pope" I can't PM. Edited February 7, 2009 by Hassan
Nihil Obstat
It's because we're all secret non-Catholic haters. We're actually all out just to make your life miserable.

Nihil Obstat
I knew it!
That was the emoticon I wanted to use. I forgot the name and was too lazy to pull up the full reply screen. I do know that a long while back, before either of us joined, there was different sorts of 'not repping' the pope. Apparently they all merged into one. Maybe the strict definition has changed, and it's not as clear as might be beneficial?
Apotheoun
Non-Catholic- well...Non-Catholic. Protestants, Muslims, Jews, etc. All of our non-Catholic friends. Will be tagged with a "I do not rep the Church [now the word "pope" is used]" icon. Separated Brethren- Those claiming Catholicism who have show an unwillingness to submit to the full authority of the Church. Hilde
Interesting with the groups and all. I haven't gotten the "I don't rep pope" or gotten my group changed to non-Catholic even though I'm Protestant. I guess you have to say something against church teaching for it to happen. The basis of all of it is that new people who come in here can have a good idea of who is saying what the Church actually teaches.
Lounge Daddy
I do know that a long while back, before either of us joined, there was different sorts of 'not repping' the pope.
So maybe it would be nice to have different not-repping-the-pope labels, to reflect "Secret Muslim", "Secret Gentleman", "Secret Jew", and "Kittiologist" sects. Hilde
Yes I am in RCIA, but I'm still a member of The Church Of Norway, that's why religion says Lutheran(RCIA).
TotusTuusMaria
I think it just means you are not Catholic. If you are not Catholic or you are Catholic and don't rep pope you get : don't rep pope. You are Catholic though you just do not practice anymore nor believe in Catholicism. Sad and unfortunate, but you are still Catholic I believe.

So at phatmass you cannot claim to be catholic and pro-abortion, catholic and pro-women's ordination etc. and still have a catholic label under your name. We never want people confused by someone claiming to be catholic and posting something not in line with catholic teaching.
