CatherineM
I guess I could somewhat understand a busy Senator, splitting his time between Washington and back home letting financial stuff fall through the crack, but what is it with all the financial experts doing the same thing. I'm glad they aren't handling my finances. Oh wait a minute, if they help run the government's finances, they are running mine. Yikes.

I didn't know "people make mistakes" was a legitimate defense in an audit. Saying "people make mistakes" is not a defense when being investigated for a crime(which not paying your taxes is).
If a GOP person had this.....they would have been assasinated. With the Democrats, we get this "mistakes and %$*@ happens." &$*#(*% Change! I guess that's true as long as your not in government. ---------------- Now playing: Flipsyde - Happy Birthday via FoxyTunes
homeschoolmom
They eventually paid their taxes. So, if I pay EVENTUALLY, I'd probably still go jail.
At BEST you would have a penalty. Is Daschle getting a penalty?
thessalonian
It seems like the usage of someone else's limo would be something you could try to get away with not paying taxes on since there is no financial transaction or paper trail taking place between you and the owner of the limo. He just says her take this and the driver for a while. Bring it back when you feel like it.
