Maybe thats why people think I'm 3 or 4 years older than I'm really am.
Did you know that soda slows the reaction time for your brain. Edited by dauntingknight

I have been dehydrated ever since I read Dune in high school.

I'm not even kidding; I don't like the taste of water unless I am at a restaurant and it's free. I drink juice or milk most of the time.

Caffeine is a diuretic, so any caffenated beverage will dehydrate you. All sodas have sodium in them, so to a lesser extent, non-caffenated sodas will, too.

What ever it takes you to drink water regularly throughout the day, do it. Even if it means buying bottled water in bulk like it does me. I just can't stand our tap water, even well filtered. When you drink a lot of water you will also be less hungry and thus eat less and lose that spare tire.

I think de-caf tea and coffee don't dehydrate you, but I don't know how much they help you.
From the Lipton Tea website (of course a little biased...)
A healthy adult should aim to consume 8 cups (2 litres) of fluid every day.

Therefore, two to three cups of tea daily can significantly contribute to the body’s hydration. It is a common myth, that tea or any other caffeine-containing beverage which will cause a diuretic effect which will have a negative impact on the body’s hydration level.

In a recent review of studies on the effects of caffeine ingestion and fluid balance (57) made the following three conclusions:

* Large quantities of caffeine have a diuretic effect;
* Single servings of caffeine at levels found in a cup of tea have little or no effect;
* A tolerance to caffeine develops so any diuretic effect seen is dimished in people who regularly drink tea
When I was doing a weight loss program, they said that you could count up to three cups of tea a day as replacements for your cups of water, but not any more than that.

This is all making me very thirsty...
