HATEBREEEEEED, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold (do they even count lol?) I like all different types. =]
not really technically mudvayne and slipknot arent either(numetal) but whatever. heavy and loud good enough. check out Meshuggah(totally heavy rhythm, very tight); Overkill(punky thrash stuff with acdc like singer);Testament and Machine Head(for some stuff like metallica, but better musicians, very solid stuff); Opeth(some great melodic stuff, great songwriting, very heavy though. i saw them live!);Dream Theater(very awesome, also saw them play) Sylosis, Sirenia and Anterior great bands, sirenia has an awesome girl singer, not so much for the other two, but some similar sounds. Disturbed and finally, Dethklok you should check their show out too (metalocalypse, like a metal spinal tap)

He dressed pretty much emo style and wrote songs about not fitting in, etc. Dark and depressed and emotional and tormented. "Disturbed" "Black Tide" "Deathklok" ... sound like rather emo band names, too. And is your avatar a picture of yourself? Is that black eye liner I see ? (Great application, by the way)
OH MY GOODNESS. Your facts need to be straightened, badly. Kurt Cobain was not emo, and yes he suffered from depression, but he was not "emo". "Emo" is those stupid little boys and girls who write songs about cutting their wrists because their parents grounded them, and now they want to kill the world because they got their drugs taken away. Emo is an overdramatic, hyper sensitive, goth wannabe trend that advertises cutting and suicide as the only answer to everything that is "wrong" with their life. Kurt Cobain suffering from depression, does not make him "emo". Writing songs about being depressed and not fitting in he did do, but note, the lyrics are a little more cleverly written, and actually hold some meaning as opposed to "stab me rip stab stab i hate my life die die die". And yep, thats me on my avvy. I wear waaayy too much eyeliner lol.

*lil girl 4 jesus*
Oh no lol, yeah, I have a serious addiction to eyeliner. My eyes are naturally abnormally huge, so I can get away with lots of it. VIBRATING MASCARA?! AH! Ohhmann, I smell a shopping trip.. No, I used to stab myself alot too, but then i found this AMAZING stuff from revlon, and its a CREME eyeliner. Not liquid, not solid, CREME. It comes in this little container with this cool little brush and its SO easy to put on. I loveee it
