ardillacid
the difference with canada being that we tend kick out the guys we dont like much faster than america. few weeks of incompetence and being an arsehat from Stephen Harper, and out comes the no-confidence vote. he somehow managed to get a temporary reprieve from the governer general, but he still has the sword over his head. on the other end, George W's approval rating and general competence have been so low for so long, i am very surprised to see him make it to the end of his second term. his butt would still have a bootprint on it if he were a canadian prime minister.
Its not just GWB, Congress has had the worst rating. Ever.

Nihil Obstat
Ya, you don't elect your PM, and you still need the Queen to approve all legislation. lol Y'all could use a war for independence.
To be fair, she is just a figurehead. I'm all for leaving the Commonwealth though. I don't see any practical reasons for remaining, other than traditions sake. Plus the whole thing about all the money having her face on it. I mean really, the Governor General hardly does a thing, and the things she actually does do (as we saw when she prorogued Parliament) could just as easily be done by someone who wasn't officially affiliated with the monarchy. mommas_boy
A bill almost identical in its wording from 2005. Also introduced by a Democrat (though Sensenbrener is a Republican): http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.J.RES.24.IH:

BG45
So basically a bill was introduced to repeal the 22nd Amendment before, and has been again? A bill with no chance at all of passing? Amazing.
