I think they're just against Iraq. Isn't Obama pretty hawkish about Afghanistan? Jesus_lol
when the drafts happened in world war 2 it certainly wasn't socialism. would you be saying the draft is a socialist measure if a republican had came up with it?
Didymus
The draft will never happen again. The war profiteers will not let it. It would hinder the profitability of war. Which is why a democrat would be the one to try to bring it back. The GOP is the industrial military complex's best friend right now. BG45
I hate to interrupt the anti-Democrat fangirling and fanboying of the thread, but perhaps just one person here might have thought to not accept an evil Democrat Conspiracy idea blindly? This is hardly the first time Representative Rangel has done this: January 2003, Rangel introduces Draft Bill February 2006, Rangel introduces Draft legislation February 2007, Rangel introduces Draft Bill And that's just the first three results of different years off a simple Google search. Edit: Representative Rangel is always trying to bring back the Draft. So his introducing a bill to that effect as he does just about every year is hardly a sign of an imminent Draft decision of any sort. I thought the Phatmass Draft Conspiracy involved President Elect Obama's Mandatory Service programs? Edited January 19, 2009 by BG45

They have also been trying to bring back the so-called fairness doctrine. They have been trying to remove term-limits on the presidency. They have been planning to deploy a vast armed military presence domestically for while now too. NOTE: "They" are both Democrats and the many liberal members of the Republican Party. And now is their opportunity to do a lot of this with little resistance.
