I remember having this debate on here over the summer. Personally, I think women should be allowed to be drafted (gender parity, right?).

when the drafts happened in world war 2 it certainly wasn't socialism. would you be saying the draft is a socialist measure if a republican had came up with it?

The draft will never happen again. The war profiteers will not let it. It would hinder the profitability of war.

Which is why a democrat [i]would[/i] be the one to try to bring it back. The GOP is the industrial military complex's best friend right now.

Yup. You are exactly right.

They have been trying to bring back the draft. They have also been trying to bring back the so-called fairness doctrine. They have been trying to remove term-limits on the presidency. They have been planning to deploy a vast armed military presence domestically for while now too.

NOTE: "They" are both Democrats and the many liberal members of the Republican Party. And now is their opportunity to do a lot of this with little resistance.
