Giolla
I'm not leaving the Catholic church I love to much. My brother recently had a conversion and started to go to a non-denominational church. I'm going to support him. I'm just happy he is going to church. I'll keep praying that he will go back to the Catholic Church at some point. Keep him in your prayers. Lil Red
+J.M.J.+ i'm confused you are going to go to Sunday Mass AND go to your brother's church for their service? i think that would be a disservice to your brother, because it will only reinforce his belief that he is doing the right thing. i will pray for guidance for you and your brother. eagle_eye222001
Probably should talk to a priest about this. ---------------- Now playing: Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard - Like A Dog Chasing Cars (Album Version) via FoxyTunes
MithLuin
Attending a non-denominational church service is fine for Catholics (though of course you would not receive communion there). You are still obligated to attend Sunday mass as well. I agree that talking to a priest about the best way to support your brother in his recent conversion to Christianity is probably a good idea. Prayers for you both, and yay for him for finding Jesus again!
CatherineM
I understand how conflicting this can be. My favorite nephew attends an evangelical church. I wish it was Catholic, obviously, but he was so lost before finding this church. Now he's married, has his electrician's license, and 4 kids.
I'm going to his service on Saturday night then I will attend Mass on Sunday. He's doing this all by himself and he just needs a shoulder to lean on. I won't receive their "communion" or anything I'm simply there for support. He has a history of disdaining religion and was an atheist. So I think baby steps are in order for him, because I know him. His story is a little bit more complex. When I came back I only went to the Catholic church because it was some what familiar to me, then I grew to love it with all my heart. I think once he is more grounded I will talk to him about the Catholic Church.

EVERYHWHERE...prison/ the street/ baptist church/ catholic church if you had the fullness of truth you would go to GOD, not just the Catholic Church if you had the fullness of truth you would know it WAS GOD not just the Catholic Church i love the Catholic Church. i love ALL churches because JESUS is there. i ESPECIALLY love the non-denominational church actually...but ALL Christians LOVE GOD...i think that is the important message here Edited January 14, 2009 by nvzbl
Selah
"be cool" as in if he went to The Catholic Church with you??
When we say "fullness of the faith" we are talking about the Eucharist...we believe in Transubstansiation, that the elements of bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ "our spiritual food and drink." I'm sorry, but Non-denominational Churches lack the Real Presence of Christ in their communion. It is merely a symbol to them. Does this mean they are not Christians? No. It simply means that they lack something that was meant to be so much more than just a symbol. Yes, Jesus is everywhere...but, he is specifically there in the Eucharist, just as the Omnipresent Father was specifically in the Ark of the Covanent.
