Hunting Deer Is Easy

Hope you got pictures of the deer. I'd hate for your car insurance to later ask you for evidence of the carcass.

If that happens, she just needs to go run down another innocent woodland creature...

Actually I have no pictures of the deer. I do have several pictures of the huge pool of deer blood that was on the road. Either I hit a deer, or i murdered someone because there's a lot of blood there.

Could be tomato sauce. I hate to sound like such a dip, but my brain has been permanently warped by law school.

I'm sorry if it seemed like I was making light of what happened. I hope you are taking good care of yourself, and remember that some soft tissue injuries don't come to the surface immediately.
I'm kindof taking it easy. So far I'm feeling okay. The wierd thing is, I'm afraid to drive now.
There's nothing weird about that at all. I've had the same trouble every time I've been in a bad wreck, even when I wasn't driving. My psychiatrist, who's an expert on PTSD issues, actually had the same trouble after having a wreck. He said he avoid driving through that intersection for months afterward until he realized what he was doing. There is definitely something to be said for getting back on the horse, just don't do it during rush hour.

There is something called stress syndrome that happens immediate following a trauma that can later develop into PTSD if not dealt with immediately. If you find yourself avoiding things, don't wait to get help.

I'm not avoiding driving through the same area. I just drove at about 35 mph. I'm really trying to not get discouraged. Not only did I hit a deer and almost total my car, I've been eating like I'm preparing for a famine. Today I was really tired and my back hurt. I really didn't want to go to work.

Today was much better. I realized how Jesus took care of me by sending a good samaritan to help me, etc, etc. Now I'm more in awe of how his loving providence took care of me at that time, and continues to do so. Deo gratias!

Did you call the police and file an accident report and all that? That's what I had to do in NY when I hit a deer in order to get my insurance to cover it. They would have helped cover the cost of a rental but I just took my brother's car instead. Luckily we had good coverage and I only had to pay like $250 out of my (roughly) $2500 worth of damages.

I'm assuming you did call them, but I had never been in an accident before so I went home to my mother's house--I was literally like 400 yards from the driveway--and told her what happened, and she was the one who told me to call the State Troopers and all that. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. The cop asked me why I left the scene and didn't call 911 (from the scene) and I told him "I didn't know you could do that for hitting a deer!"

It IS lucky that there was a good Samaritan there. When I hit my deer there were about 4 other cars in oncoming traffic who had to have seen what happened and not a one of 'em pulled over to make sure I was ok. But I learned my lesson that night; never run out of toilet paper.
