Kilroy the Ninja
Alrighty then, I just saw the trailer for the new Joseph Finnes (Shakespeare In Love) movie and guess who's coming to a theater near you in Septebmer (the 26th to be exact)... "Luther" Now then, I'm a big Joseph Finnes fan, but I'm not sure I can get behind this latest work of his. In fact, judging from the trailer (which is at the website), I'm pretty sure I won't be spending any of my husband's hard earned money to see it. It looks like another Catholic Bash Fest. So, my rhetorical question to the phorum is: (and feel free to try and answer it if you'd like), why is it that this movie can be made with little fanfare (I hadn't heard about it until today, and I keep up with these sorts of things - I know what movies are coming out two year from now...) and this movie will have a guarateed distributor and doubtless few will demonstrate against this movie, and yet when a (sort-of) Catholic makes a film about actual, historical events ("The Passion") the film is beleagured at every turn by this group or that group who wants to snuff it out for what it "might" contain. And a movie like "Therese" is practically ignored all together. Why is this? Is it Satan?
VanHooty
Maybe it's just the fact that Mel Gibson is directing it and he's getting a bunch of flac from Hollywood. Who knows? Besides, everyone likes bashing on us Catholics. It's fun and easy to do, and we usually don't resist or make a stink about it.

MC Just
Luther was stupid. Plain and Simple he shouldnt have been alowed to touch the scriptures. I have no respect for that devil or what he has created. Error and fallacy is widely accepted and the truth is widely rejected. VeraMaria
NO, NO, NO, NO. NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, it's just that it makes me sooo mad!!! The movie looks good, but it's a great anti-catholic "bash fest", like you said!!!! Grrrrr.....
MC Just
Thats just messed up. They make a movie about Luther and it comes out Immediately. A Catholic make a film about the last 12 hours of Christ and people wanna shut it down. I'm sorry ya'll I get really angry when stuff like this happens. I want to start a crusade. Seriously. Lil Red
Okay, I'm just pissed off seeing the "Rebel, Genius, Liberator" at the start of that screen. I need to calm down before I actually watch the trailer. Naw, I'll just stay steamed and won't watch it! This kind of anger is good for fighting these infidels!!!!

Chrysologus
It won't necessarily be anti-Catholic. It could be anti-Lutheran for all we know! I'll bet that it'll get some coverage by religious groups like ChristianityToday. It should be pointed out that more books have been written about Martin Luther than any other person except Jesus Christ. It's only natural there should be a movie about him. Jake Huether
It won't necessarily be anti-Catholic. It could be anti-Lutheran for all we know! Uh, I don't think so. Rebel, Genius, liberator. Unless they mean genius as in crazy (cause we know all geniuses are crazy), and they were being sarcastic about liberator.
