Mrs. Bro. Adam

What do I believe? Well...since no one has asked me, I'll just tell you.

I believe that God sent His Son into this world, to become one of us, to live with us, to teach us. I believed that He was baptized by John the Baptist, I believe that His Father said that He was pleased with His Son.

I believe that Jesus was sinless. I believe that He came for one reason, to take our place on that cross. I believe that Jesus healed the sick, made the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the mute to speak, and the dead to come back to life.

I believe that the only way to be saved is by grace through faith, which can only come from God the Father. I believed that Jesus was betrayed, was crucified on a cross so that we may live, died, and then rose again.

I believe that He is going to come again, to take those that believe with Him. I believe that He conquered death, and that as long as we're His that we don't need to worry about evil overtaking and defeating us.

I believe that the angels rejoice when another lost son or daughter comes home, and that Satan and his demons throw tempor tantrums because they've lost one more person.

I believe that Satan is very real, that he is in this world tempting those that belong to Christ. I believe that Satan roams this world liek a hungry lion seeking those whom he can devour. I believe that God sends his angels to protect us. I believe that we are in a never-ending spiritual warfare. (Do I still appear as a heretic).

I believe that another's faith should not be misrepresented and then taken as fact. I believe that when we sin, that God is disappointed with us. I believe that whenever we sin we turn our backs on God, but God never turns His back on us.

There are so many other things that I believe. But the most important thing that I believe is that when I prayed to 'accept' Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, that it was Him that had given me the faith, that it was nothing that I did or said that saved me, but only His graciousness and mercy did He save me and call me His own.

Now...if that's heretical, then I'm sorry. But, before you call someone a heretic, or take another's word about someone being a heretic. Ask him/her what they believe...cause chances are, they really aren't.

Do you go to confession to have your sins forgiven (absolved)?

LOL...no...I'm not Catholic. But what is stated is what I believe.

I go to God in prayer, and admit my sins, which for me is harder to do.

P.S. Are you trying to tell me I sound like a Catholic? ;)

lol...

I believe that the Holy Spirit is our intercessor and that God has told us to confess our sins to Him.

I don't believe that we need a priest to intercede for us.

There's only two things that you believe that I don't.
...as long as we're His that we don't need to worry about evil overtaking and defeating us.
I believe that even though we are His, we can still fall out of His grace if we reject Him. We should worry about evil overtaking us--and work out our salvation in fear. Your statement above seems to be implying that you believe in once saved always saved, which I reject. It also seems to be in complete conflict with your later statement:
I believe that Satan is very real, that he is in this world tempting those that belong to Christ.
If we belong to Christ, and your first statement were true, why would Satan tempting us even be an issue?
But the most important thing that I believe is that when I prayed to 'accept' Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, that it was Him that had given me the faith, that it was nothing that I did or said that saved me, but only His graciousness and mercy did He save me and call me His own.
While I agree with the concept of being saved by God's grace, and only His grace, I disagree that "it was nothing we do or say" that results in us being saved. Like you said above, you prayed and accepted Him. It was an action you took to cooperate in His plan--a "work" if you will. So yes, we are saved by His grace, but we must accept His grace.
Now...if that's heretical, then I'm sorry. But, before you call someone a heretic, or take another's word about someone being a heretic. Ask him/her what they believe...cause chances are, they really aren't.
I wouldn't call anyone a heretic unless they recognized the truth found in His Church, and then rejected it.

God bless.

I like what you wrote. The things that dUSt pointed out stood out to me too, but I don't think they're necessarily wrong, just need more clarification. And I don't think you contradicted yourself because I was trying to understand what you were saying more experientially. So I would say Amen!
Even to this part, which sounds very protestant:

I feel the same way, but I would probably have chosen different words so it would sound more Catholic. :)

John Ch 20:21-23
Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you. And when he said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the HOLY SPIRIT. WHOSE SINS YOU FORGIVE ARE FORGIVEN THEM, AND WHOSE SINS YOU RETAIN ARE RETAINED."
Read this slow and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you! He gave the first members of His Church the power he had to forgive sins! :D

Brother Adam

Umm....read a thread at www.baptistboard.com in the other religion forum. It's self-explanatory from there.
