Breaking Lenten Resolution = Sin?

Most people give up something for Lent, like eating chocolate or watching TV. If you break your Lenten Resolution, is it a sin that needs to be confessed?

The answer to your question is "no".

During Lent, we take on penance (prayer, fasting, acts of mercy) in order to mortify our flesh and to implore God's grace on behalf of his Church.

Failing to perform an act of penance that you have personally chosen to undergo is not a sin.
