Maria_Faustina
Ooh, I would love to and need to learn more about both of them. Is that the actual name of the movie--"Clare and Francis"? Thank you for telling us about it!
Love for life.
Well the one I saw was called "Francis of Assisi" and was made in 1961, but there are a lot of good movies out there about him and Clare.
tinytherese
"Clare and Francis" is the title. It's a new one that came out. Ignatius press distributes it.

tinytherese
Has anyone else seen The Flowers of St. Francis? I saw it for the first time the other night. Some scenes really were touching.
DemonSlayer
The Italian miniseries was also pretty good, even better than Brother Son, Sister Moon.

MithLuin
That is the black and white one, right? Yes, I have seen it; the beggar is priceless. I heard they used actual friars to play the roles "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" is a bit of a hippy interpretation of the story, but is good in parts. HERE are excerpts from the Life of St. Francis (the first biography written about him immediately after his death) for those who are curious about his life. MithLuin
The Flowers of St. Francis was a black and white Italian film made in 1950. It consists of vignettes rather than an over-arching story. Brother Son, Sister Moon was made in 1972, and while it gets the spirit of the story very well, it has a few dated, anti-establishment themes that don't work very well. Francesco from 1989. I think I have seen a few clips from this movie, but not the whole thing. It is likely more accurate than Brother Sun, Sister Moon, but possibly less fun. I haven't seen it yet. Edited January 3, 2009 by MithLuin
tinytherese
I really didn't like Brother Son, Sister Moon. Way too hippy and some parts were just weird. Like Francis randomly freaking out during mass. Also, I was suspicious that Clare might have joined Francis because she was in love with him and really wasn't as concerned with following God.
