They have dogs that can climb trees?

Actually the dogs are bred to collect the squirrels tht you have just shot.
They don't actually climb the tree and kill the squirrels. FYI

I love hounds. I can tell by a hound's bay where he is on the trail, how close he is tothe animal, etc. I love their voices....

lol, we went from rats to squirrels, which coincidentally are considered rats with bushy tails by some folks.

I don't mean hunting dogs, you still need guns to utilize their services, I mean dogs like mini Schnauzers and some terriers that were used to kill rats.

BTW anything bigger than a .22 caliber pellet gun is overkill unless you are dealing with ROUSs.

Yeah, I was just going to say "what about mousing dogs?" My aunt and uncle used to have a cat and a dog but they still had some mice problems in their basement--until she got a couple of little terriers (I forget what type, but she'd had one before and that was why she got them).

Given, the rats are in the trees

and, the dogs are on the ground.

It only follows that the dogs must climb the trees to kill the rats.

Unless you know of some mystical tree climbing, rat killing, super dogs...

My grandfather used a single shot shotgun with bird shot for squirrels. My baby brother still has it, and once threatened my husband that he was going to bring it across the border if he didn't get our marriage blessed by the church. If he hadn't been laughing when he said it, that would be grounds for annulment.
