i think if you can't take care of the pet, you need to take it to a kitty rescue place where they can place it in a nice home...

or they can send it off somewheres to become the next package of hot dogs at the grocery store...

I like mine with a bit of fight left in them. Dead, dieing, or really ticked off.
I know that. That is why you should not give your son a pet without his mother's okay. Even if you believe your son is old enough to care for it himself, you would be introducing an animal into his mother's home. She may not want one. Ultimately, it's up to her.
no. it would b my home tho thnx for your advice anyway tho.

I'm just looking at this from the perspective I'd have had as a kid (yes, I really thought this way), but what good does it do to give him something he can't actually have? You said you don't get to see them often, ergo he won't see his pet often. I don't think he'd hate you for it, but I don't think he's going to appreciate the gesture.
I have a young cat named Casper. (my third one I've named Casper)
Well its a very very nice cat. But doesnt listen all too well. Wants to make up her own rules. But she is very special and loves me very much. And is very much spoiled. Ive havent had her for very long. She is still kinda of a kitten. i saved her from the street. My son (Lexus) likes her. But i was going to give her to my son because i think their personalities match better. I dont see my kids as much anymore. (long story in the middle of custody/visitation battle) But i'm going to tell him he can have her, i will take care of her for him, but he can have her forever!
So you are still gonna take care of the cat, but you want your child to feel he owns it?

my friend just gave me her dog for Christmas. I had to give him back. He wouldn't get along with my goat. In fact, the dog wanted to eat my goat, eat my chickens, eat my kittens and beat up my other puppy.

needless to say, you shouldn't be giving your pets away for Christmas...

Definitely best to run it by the other person first. I mean, when my uncle gave us his cat, we had discussed it. They couldn't keep him, and I loved the cat. My husband already had a Siamese-mix kitten, so we talked about whether it would be good to bring in another cat when we had Firebert. Once we'd come to an agreement on everything, then my uncle sent Cosmo down to us with my mom.
