Regrets...

Francis

Recommended Posts

To the phorum this may concern,

I have done and not done many things in my life that I regret. Although, many people hold to believe that no one should have any regrets. I am not sure if this is debatable but this is the board i am putting it in. If you think it shall be elsewhere, i will move.

Sincerely in faith, hope, and love,

Francis

Well, did you learn from it?

If you did, then I would say no.

I think it's important to accept our humanity, we are imperfect and we are going to make mistakes...otherwise..we should regret being human!

It is good to admit that we are wrong, then go to confession make our penance and keep living it out by growing from it. Then you rejoice that we are made free from our sins! Then you leave it in the past...and walk away from your little tomb that you made....that's why there is an easter after good friday :)

Like my uncle says, there are no mistakes, only lessons.

I think we may regret certain things, but we have to be sure that, like Free Soul said, we learn from our mistakes, and that we don't get "caught up" in regret.

Regret/guilt are ok feelings to have and are appropriate at certain times, but shame (extreme guilt/regret) is not a natural emotion and is to be avoided.

I regret all of my sins. The fact that I try to learn from them doesn't meant that I don't regret them. The only sense in which I don't regret them is in the sense that God uses my evil to bring out even greater good.

I don't regret anything in my life. Why? Because I don't like to waste my time on regret. Everything I've done in my life has lead me to where I am at now. All the mistakes I've made have made me a better person.

This doesn't mean that I haven't made mistakes or I don't have guilt. I still have guilt over the bad things I've done in my life, but again, I don't obsess. I can't change anything now, so why worry? If I've repented and said I'm sorry, I feel I can move on.

I believe it is acceptable to regret, but not to dwell. It's in the dwelling where our regrets can lead to a miserable, selfish life. And I'm pretty sure that's a sin somewhere. ;)
