Plus, solid state disks are much more expensive than a comparable platter-based drive.

Really? They cost more. They shouldn't, since they are cheaper to make. <_< figures though. as for faster I have to disagree. No moving parts is faster already. I guess I should look up specs, instead of guessing the obvious though. Sometimes when people decide to do something new they don't finish their work and bring out the best. Usually to make more money later on.
