Hyper-consumerism Is Guilty Of Taking The Christ Out Of Christmas

I should feel greatful.

Here in Ireland we always see the words 'Happy Christmas' everywhere, despite the country turning more and more European, (believe it or not, most Irish do not consider themselves 'European'), and secularisation is encrouching on us, even the ads on TV for major shopping chains right down to local stores all still say the words 'Merry Christmas', not that X-Mas thing but the full phrase. We even have a Giant Christmas tree on the Public Square in my nearest Town.

It was always these little things that made me happy this time of year.
