RedSnapper
Greetings and blessings to all. I am happy to have discovered this site via the http://www.mylifeafter.com/forums/. What a great site this is. I plan to read more on this site since a number of you have posted some great apologetics on that website. I am always heartened to read and see and hear our Faith defended and hopefully help in the instruction of the ignorant. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of time to read a lot right now but I will as soon as possible. I did want to post and give a sort of heads up on a site that has a confused and ignorant author. I plan to post in their "reader resonses" section. The author of the site is super anti-Catholic. The site is "The Animated Crucifix" ... maybe some of you have already seen it? At: http://www.letgodbetrue.com/TodaysWorld/passion.htm The really sad part to see is the feedback the guy is getting. http://www.letgodbetrue.com/TodaysWorld/PassionResponses.htm How in the world does someone education someone like this???? My guess is that we will see a lot more sites like this. A.M.D.G. RS

jmjtina
Welcome RedSnapper! I'm glad you found us. The website, just scanning it, is very anti-Catholic. It has many misconceptions of our Faith online and seems to have no knowledge (or want of) the Catholic Church. But feel free to join discussions, listen to the jukebox, and read some great stuff, especially in the Apologetic Section. VERY good stuff. Also check out the homepage for some other great stuff! Hope to see you around! Peace and God Bless.

God Conquers
what's funny about that site, is that most of the reasons he states he hates the movie for, are reasons why I LIKE the movie!

cathgirl
That's website is annoying. Anyway, I was reading and it said this:
What is special about Ash Wednesday? The movie was released on a Wednesday, which is very unusual, except for it being Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent! The movie is a Catholic catechism! Lent is 40 days of fasting (excluding Sundays) that ends on Easter Eve
When does Lent really end? I've always been told that it ends on Holy Thursday...am I wrong?? (It's not that I trust anything in this article, it just reminded me of a question I have )
RedSnapper
Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to spending some time here. Lent starts (as you all know) on Ash Wednesday and continues for forty days, besides Sundays, until Easter Sunday. This also brings to mind a recent thing I learned. I found out that a person could (not that I would) break Lent on Sundays. Anyone else heard of this? During the Sundays of Lent we celebrate the resurrection always and therefore can halt whatever Lenten sacrifices, prayers or almsgiving we are practicing. The reason I wouldn't do this is because, for me, the slippery slope is always waiting. God bless and thanks again for your warm welcome and for having a look at that website. After I posted I discovered that FAQ section and it seems that is where there can be some educational possibilities. Of course some folks just don't want to know the Truth. IcePrincessKRS
I have heard that you can partake in whatever it is you gave up for Lent, etc., because Sunday is not supposed to be a penitential day. I'm with you though, I try not to because once I start I'll forget and slip up again. Its not like I'll really suffer if I don't have a coke or a brownie anyhow. lol (One of the things I'm doing is refraining from eating/drinking sweets.) One thing I read that I found kind of funny is that to drink an alcoholic beverage doesn't break a fast! I was suprised at that one, but they also made a note that its not recommended that you do that since its not in the spirit of Lenten sacrifice.
