i was thinking about leonissa last night. my mom had an aunt who was a nun and the name she took as a nun was sister leonissa.
Leonissa is nice, but she'd always have to explain it... and people would mispronounce it all the time.
I really LOVE Evelyn! What a sweet name!
I also really like Ethan. For both Lillian and Maximilian, just know that their names are going to be shortened unless you really fight against it. Kids will call them "Lil" or "Lily" and Max.

i don't think i like the nickname. Hey Meth, come here! :hehe:

oh, and we want a middle name that isn't 'common' - like half my graduating class (of the females), their middle name was Marie.
Mordicai.

Now that I've said it, if you don't then that makes you an anti semite :detective:
i know! it's really annoying, especially when my parents picked 'good' names for their kids. <_<

i love the names!! i asked my hubby about Ezra, and he seemed to like it. so far here's the names that i like but that he's kinda meh about:
boys:
dominic

girls:

lol, i've done that too. :hehe:
I like all those names. :) We have nephews (two of Mark's boys) named Dominic and Maximilian. Matt suggested it to me once before we got married and I told him no way, it was too long for our last name (haha). He told his sister (who was pregnant at the time) that I hated it (I never used the word hate!) and then when it turned out he was a boy that's what they named him. (And I've already scratched every name but Ezra, Ethan, and Simon off my list because either close friends have kids with the same name--Evelyn--or we have nieces/nephews/cousins with those names.... ah, one downside to big families! haha)

Leonissa is a very cool name, I'm sure you won't be finding any repeats there!

If you start them young they fight it themselves. :hehe: My kids who are old enough to know the difference both get obstinate when people shorten their names. There are a couple little girls in the neighborhood who shorten their names to "Adree" or "Gen" or "Genevee" (although that last one is largely because they can't pronounce it properly).

Adrienne always says "My name is ADRIENNE, not Adree!" (she's five) And Geneveive says "My name is Gen-va-vieve." (she's three, she knows her name isn't Gen or Jenny or Genna, but she still has a little trouble getting out the right syllables.) They are definitely opposed to nicknames, though, and that's the way I prefer it. My brother tried calling Genevieve Jenny early on and I gave him the narrow-eyed look and said "Her name is Genevieve." He tried convincing me with "Aw, come on, it's ME! You're not going to let their favorite uncle give them a nickname?" I told him absolutely not. lol Now he has a baby girl named Scarlett... I'm thinking of calling her Scar the first time I meet her just for his reaction. :hehe:

yeah, we don't shorten cecelia's name to cece because we both hate that name. it's either celia or the full name.
