Of course, John's book was written to Christians suffering under Nero's persecution who had no knowledge of a Visa card and, as far as I know, Nero never required a physical stamp on the right hand or forehead in order to make commerce. While the literal interpretation is a remote possibility, we should focus instead on definite metaphorical interpretation, lest Christians find themselves unwaringly "stamped" because they were distracted by the propaganda of best-selling Christian fiction.
