They feel threatened.

When someone, or some animal, insect, etc is backed into a corner, their instincts turn from running away to attacking violently for survival.

What we are seeing now is a reaction from the gay "rights" activists, that points to them feeling very threatened and very cornered.

Suffering another three defeats this November, one of them being a monstrous defeat-California, they realize that their is a solid chance their case for "equal rights" will not make it. Therefore, they are beginning to act as if they have been backed into a corner.

Where do I go to buy something from the Container Supply Co., Inc. of Garden Grove, CA?
"No matter what you think of Proposition 8, we ought to respect people's right to participate in the political process. It strikes me as quite ironic that a group of people who demand tolerance and who claim to be for civil rights are so willing to be intolerant and trample on other people's civil rights."
Nothing new there....

They already have all the same rights as everyone else, including the right to mary someone of the opposite sex.

Yes. They can even marry someone of the opposite sex.

The thing is, homosexuals who wish to do so can get a civil union, and reap all of the same monetary benefits as married heterosexual couples, yes?
Why is the title 'married' so important to them, since religious institutions are what define marriage, and religion is an evil, hate-spewing tool?

Because they want to pressure people of faith into accepting things that are contrary to what God has revealed.

Basically they want society to okay their immoral acts. <_< Make themselves feel better.
