+Praised be Jesus Christ!

I strongly suggest that you report any interaction with this group - including parking lots getting blanketed with their trash to the Southern Poverty Law Center. They do a fantastic job on tracking hate groups; which is what this particular group is. Every piece of information helps, and while you are lucky (and blessed) to have a good mind, and a solid foundation of the Church's teaching, many young, vulnerable people are not in the same position. That is how "brainwashing" occurs. Remember that saying: "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything." ??? It's true. We have too many (too, too many) nominal Catholics with terrible faith formation and awful ongoing faith formation. It is critical we do our part to make sure the vultures who roam about our earth, looking for the destruction of souls (to paraprash a certain favorite prayer!) don't have much of a chance!

I hope you didn't tell him about our secret handshake and the super-duper Jesuit decoder rings! If they found that out, they'd have a field day.

Didn't you know? The ring exists! Only instead of "Drink More Ovaltine" it tells us to "Buy More Indulgences"! :lol_roll:

(For those just browsing the forum, that is just a joke)

If you are familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church (aka Fred Phelps and family), you will know that they take advantage of tragedies that are likely to make national news to try to get their 'message' of hate to more people.

My brother attends Virginia Tech, and was in class the day of the shooting. When he heard the family would be protesting at the funerals of the victims, he called up Ms. Phelps-Roper and gave her a piece of his mind (her cell phone # was made public for some reason). He claims to have been polite throughout, but I wasn't there to verify it. He is not what I would call a devout Catholic, but he certainly recognizes a kook when he sees (er, hears) one. If I ever had the opportunity to speak with her, I would not be polite. They make my blood boil.

When I was in college, a gentleman brought his young son to help hand out pamphlets to passing students. Each time the kid put a pamphlet in a college kid's hand, he said "You're going to hell." I stopped to talk to the kid, and informed him that I was not, actually. (Heh, I realize I don't know that for sure, but as a point of argument...) Rather than ask me what my reason for saying so might be, he immediately spouted off the defenses against arguments he'd been taught. For instance, "It doesn't matter what church you belong to," so it was easy for me to say, "I never said it did." Etc. It wasn't a very long conversation, and I mostly just fingered my cross necklace to try to hint at him that maybe I was actually a Christian after all. I did feel sad that he'd been told such awful things about teenagers or college kids...as if everyone on that campus was 'lost' or something. I mean, sure, it's good to have a healthy view of evil in the world, but telling perfect strangers "You're going to hell" is not it. I of course set the blame on his dad for feeding him this, and can only hope that he'll learn better when he grows up. To be honest, that kid is probably the same age as college students now....

I wish one of those arse portals would say something to me.

They probably got the hint after half their congregation was missing that one fateful day.

I used to volunteer at the Catholic League years ago. Alamo's people hit the Wash. Metro area with tons of pamphlets called "The Pope's Secrets" in which the Vatican is blamed for everything including communism, WW1 and WW2 and well the list goes on. That got the League a lot of favorable publicity as well as attention from local politicians who wanted to line up to denounce Alamo. Anti-Catholic bigotry lives on, that's for sure.
Just in case you want to peruse "The Pope's Secrets" : http://alamoministries.com/content/english/Antichrist/Popes_Secrets.html

I wouldn't even call those guys up. Tony Alamo is now serving a 175 year sentence which just might be life since he's 74. :)) It's amazing and pathetic they didn't catch him years ago.
He also owes 2.5 million to the five women he was convicted of abusing. Just another bad boy from Arkansas...

If I remember correctly, the news letter had a section devoted to his innocence.
