if they voted for Obama. Truth be told I probally would to if i was an african american. They have been put through alot in this country. Can you really blame them that they are excited to see an african american as president ? Sure I would hope they would take oher issues into account when voting but at the same time I dont blame them if they vote for him just because he's black. Ok thats all.

seriously ?
I think people of all races and classes have put up with a lot ... and some have not had to put up with anything... and some have made bad choices for themselves... and some have had delightfully stressfree lives. Trouble knows no race.

ok well african americans were slaves in this country.
african americans could not vote.
they couldnt drink out of the same water fountain.
the list goes on and on.
all im saying is i can understand why african americans could be excited to see a black man become president.
and when people say that the first black man to become presidnt in this country is not good, is a devil, is a antichrist, there is nothing good about hiim ect ect ect
i think its messed up.

Don't bother trying to explain that to anyone. It is not even on the table. And why should black Americans care about the white half of Obama's ethnicity when Obama himself wrote a book in honor of the black father who abandoned him, not about the white grandparents who raised him and gave him a privileged life that most young black Americans never get to experience.

And how long ago was all this?

Futhermore, it would be one thing if they were supporting Obama because they knew anything about his political ideology (which, even if they did, they probably wouldn't care--stats showed that an overwhelming majority of black Americans believe OJ Simpson is innocent of double-murder--that is, they decided he was innocent even before the trial), but they are supporting him becuase somehow they have the misguided idea that having a black President is somehow going change their lives, like they are winning the lottery.

Ash Wednesday

Race shouldn't matter either way.

If we reversed it and said, "I really really really really want McCain to win-- I think him being white is just so great!"

...yeah that makes sense.

Race is not an issue -- it never should have been before, and it never should be now.
In some respects there's something to be said for the days before the Kennedy-Nixon TV debate. You know, where people actually read about issues extensively and debates were done over the radio and weren't distracted by things like appearances.

dont get me mixed up. im not saying he should be supported simply because he's black. i am saying though i can see why he is supported by blacks. and if you want to demonize that then go ahead. but the truth is alot of arican americans in this country havent forgotten the past. and who's to say they should ? i really dont know. but its a reality. and i just find it troubling everybody getting in a uproar about all these political issues when a black man might become president. why wasnt everyone calling bill clinton the antichrist ? why wasnt he a devil and no good ?
