Inquiry About The Roman Catholic Rosary

My school, which is Independent Baptist (and I dislike it a great deal because they persecute me for my Catholicism), says that my Rosary, which is ornate is considered an idol. I continously refuse that it's a form of idoltry rather it's a form of prayer. I received 45 demerit points because I refused to remove the Rosary from my locker. I really want to know though, because the Rosary is so ornate, is it considered to be a form of idoltry if it's overly "decked"?

Sincerely In Christ,
Andy

The Rosary is not idolatry because it is not a symbol of a false God. In fact, anyone who prays the Rosary knows that they are meditatin on Christ's life through the eyes of his Mother. The Rosary is a prayer to God, by focusing on one of 20 Mysteries in the life of Christ with his Mother.

An idol is an image of a false God used to give honor or worship to that false God. Since the Rosary is focused on Christ and is a prayer to the One True God, then it can't possibly be an idol.
