My conclusion is I must buy a Douay-Rhiems and a Jerusalem Bible. Also, I'll stay with my RSV. I was surprised so many preferred it. Good, since that's the one I use - by coincidence. Thank you all, Jon
Yeah, I'd like to have a Douay-Rhiems too, but they're a bit pricey, especially when you can get it online through biblios.com and studylight.org (an Evangelical site, ironically enough) for free. Can't beat the experience of reading a tangible book though. What is it about the Jerusalem Bible that you like? I've never considered anything besides the RSV-CE and the D-R. The scholarship behind the RSV would be difficult to surpass, though a true Catholic translation can't be beat either.
