Saint Therese
I decided to start this thread because I'm very curious about the practice of confession especially in this country. It seems that everyone goes to Communion and hardly anyone goes to confession. Your input/comments are appreciated.
Paladin D
The parish I'm registered with, only offers it by appointment. Another one I go to offers it by appointment *and* has it scheduled a couple times a week. I understand my pastor manages 3 churches total (with the help of an associate pastor), but I can't understand how confession can be so low on the priority list. Saint Therese
I agree. ESPECIALLY since of the biggest spiritual problems today is a lack of a sense of sin. Thanks for your input!
Guest
How can the church make such a big deal about mortal sin then not offer confession to take that big weight off ? The church I was baptised in offers it once a week. I float around because I dont like repeating the same stupid sins to the same priest.

Saint Therese
Sometimes I do that too. If fear of embarassment is going to keep me from going to confesion, then I'll go to another parish or the Cathedral.

Paladin D
It's hard for me to go, mainly because I have a strong habital sin. At times I could do better, but it still happens. Because of this, it's very difficult for me to confess such a sin over and over to the same priest back-to-back, so I hop around. Due to my work schedule, the availibility of a priest, and living in a rural location (where there aren't many Catholic churches), I rarely receive the Eucharist these days. Guest
Thanks for sharing. Its nice not being the only one. Sin smells of elderberries.
Saint Therese
I struggle with habitual sin also. I've found that when I say the Rosary every day, I remain from this particular sin(and others). I really recommend it.
Guest
I should really start doing this. I am such a selfish person sometimes. ok almost all the time.
Saint Therese
You should try it. I wouldn't have believed how powerful it is unless I experienced it myself. I was almost hopeless at overcoming certain sins until I started saying the Rosary every day. Not only that, but my whole spiritual life has changed for the better. Guest
You know whats really troubling is I dont even know how to pray it. I know I could find out so easily if I wanted to. And mabey I really should. When I pray I usually just say Our Fathers and Hail Marys. I know thats included in the rosary. I prayed it at church once when they just happened to be doing it. I didnt participate but I sat there and prayed with them.
Saint Therese
I really think you should, and I'm not just saying that. I'm someone who is a convert, a re-vert, and I've struggled with serious sin and faithfulness (now I'm going to be a nun). So I really hope that you'll trust what I'm saying. The Rosary is really easy to pray, thats what makes it so great. THis link shows you how: How to pray the Rosary. Edited October 30, 2008 by Saint Therese

I actually memorized the Divine Mercy Chaplet before I did the Rosary . Both of them are beautiful. It's hard to pray a whole Rosary sometimes, so you could switch it up between a Rosary one day, and a Divine Mercy Chaplet the next. Edit: I'm a revert.
