I am really becoming a fan of fox news. They actually have me believing Obama might blow this thing. They seem to be a little bit more fair and balanced then the other networks. And who doesnt love Bill O'Rielly ??????? He was pretty funny on Letterman last night. :smokey:

I can't watch news without going , but I often kinda enjoyed O'Reilly.

Though I also wanted to :getaclue: him from time to time too.

I like Fox News too, but it's interesting how the ones that usually complain about it are liberal (understandably so).

MSNBC has become more, and more liberal each year goes by. Just watch Keith Olbermann (who despises O'Reilly) and the new Rachel Maddow show. These same people complain about the supposed biased of Fox News, yet fail to point out their own favorite networks like MSNBC.

My theory is this: The general audience is so used to seeing the left-leaning bias of network news, that Fox News is a stark contrast to the general trend, therefore it's viewed as being "overly biased".

Or, Fox is biased towards the right and MSNBC is biased towards the left. Just because MSNBC is liberal doesn't mean Fox isn't conservative.

CNN is the only network that can really claim to be fair and balanced. Their hosts are quite unbiased, and they have an even share of commentators from both the left and right.

Good for a chuckle, but not based at all on reality.

Fox news gives us the news. And because they do that, they are accused of being biased? The others twist and churn the news to their own viewpoints. That's not journalism, that's propaganda!

Some questions I have:

What is the news?
What does it mean to be biased?
What is journalism?
What is propaganda?

Just curious how you define these things.

News is information on recent happenings...it's supposed to be all about the reality of situations, events, what's actually going on. If Obama is friends with Ayers, then reporting on that friendship and exposing it as it exist in reality is NOT biased reporting...it's the truth! To be biased is to report on things for one side only, and never give the other side a chance. It also gives a slant to the truth. The true journalists sees everything objectively, without allowing her emotions and feelings to warp the news she is reporting.

Propaganda is exposing privy little things to make your own point. (Like attacking Palin all the time for how much she paid for her underwear, while ignoring the main issues...like Obama's ties to terrorist groups and totally ignoring the Abortion issue...) Propaganda is what the biased media do to convince you to think the way they think...to see things the way they see things...and that is not their job! They are supposed to bring us the news as it is, not slanted by their own opinions!

I have seen Fox take McCain to the task, as well as Obama. It just looks bad for Obama all the time, because...well, he is the worst candidate between the two!!! Nobody needs to help him look bad. The biased media has to build him up, because he needs all the help he can get! And I have to admit, they are doing a good job! People are not smart enough, they take the bait and swallow it all up.

I agree. News is reporting on exactly what happened in terms of facts and time lines. I did not, however, mention anything about Obama or McCain, so for the time being, I'm going to ignore the rest of what you said.

I would expand that definition to include using any fact or figure in a distorted way to make your point. And again, I didn't ask about politics, I only asked what you defined it as. I will again ignore the rest of what you said.

Good, but this is opinion. If the job of a news network is to only report the news, then Fox has failed by your standards, if they have taken anyone to task. That is not their place. Taking someone to task goes beyond reporting the news.

Are you a journalist? Because I am... and as far as "taking to the tasks" that makes for great reporting when you are trying to get the Who? What? When? Where? How? and Why? out of them...
