How many of you would take Latin if I offered it on a separate phorum and how frequently?
As for Latin, I can make up a lesson plan that would be effective, I would answer any questions on email every night, and I would make up stories from simple to complex over time to ween you onto it.
that sounds like fun!

I'm game just as long as we don't do any Cicero... He's a pain... his sentences are huge. Poetry is much nicer... or medieval latin

i'd be totally down for taking latin online!!!

my latin teacher doesn't teach us a whole lot of latin, or any of the rules and such, so it'd be nice to know what i'm missing... :D
This is gonna be cool... then I can justify buying "The Cat in the Hat" in Latin!!
Cattus Petasatus! I already have it! Get "Winnie Ille Pooh" instead...

I like Cicero, but I would never start with his work.

However, I wouldn't start with poetry either...the translating would be hard enough for beginners, the scansion would be like the plague.

I would probably start with Caesar's De Bello Gallico or make up my own sentences.

Hi, I not only would be interested in learning Latin via this website (hint hint), I also have a friend who has taken 4 yrs and could help me.

I have also a suggestion for the pronunciation problem:

just record and post short audio clips of you pronouncing the words.

:)

That's an awesome idea! I would undoubtly take the course if it was offered on here. Latin is a great language (although it's kinda dead). Think about it... Phatmass could revive it!

Come on, dUSt, I've been polite and goodness knows that seminarians don't have the money to run websites...

i would love to learn it

actually, i started taking it in 8th grade b/c the teacher was a jerk and accused me of cheating when i hadn't. he also humiliated me in front of the class every time we would have to take a test or a quiz. what a moron. needless to say, i dropped out.

anyways, i am still greatly interested in it. since i'm not taking a foreign language anymore, i won't get it confused.

i'll stop rambling on now....

I saw the Passion tonight and i was so pleased because, not only could i tell when they were speaking latin, i could also understand some of it! :D
