Congrats man! I'm happy for you. I am sure the UK needs good priests as much as we do, so this is a good thing!

Thank you all. I really am delighted and overwhelmed. One of the weirdest things is that I already know that after hearing confessions I am going to thing, 'My God, I'm such a sinner!' And I can't wait to preside at Mass!!! I must practice singing the preface and all that. And I get tested on doing it in Latin too!!! So cool!

Tom, the church is 'the priory church of the Holy Spirit', better known as 'Blackfriars'. It's the church attached to my priory. It's on St Giles, opposite St John's college. Just a few hundred yards down from the parish church, St Aloysius (The Oratory).

I never thought this day should come. Keep me in your prayers please. That I should become a good, holy and faithful priest even unto death, as they say.

"What shall I render to the LORD for all his bounty to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD,
I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
O LORD, I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast loosed my bonds.
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,
in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!" (Psalm 116.12-19)

Congratulation. I wish I could attend but I'm in California but I will keep you in my prayers.

Mark 10:29-30
And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Have added the date to my diary. I need to be in Spain the following day, but subject to flights working out, it will be a real honour to be there.

Hadn't realised you were a Dominican. I have to confess that I usually go to St Benet's Hall when I'm in Oxford. In fact I think the last time I was at Blackfriars for Mass was for David Goodill's solemn profession. Given that he's been Fr David for some time now, that must be a seriously long time ago. Going for your ordination will be a wonderful way to return.
